They'll have earned those places through performances in European trophies though, Roo. Serie A might have higher profile players, but they're obviously not performing to the same standard as the relatively unknown German sides.
To be honest mate, I can't be bothered to go into it again. I know I'm wrong and there's perfect reasoning for it being the way it is, but i can't help that it bugs me that there's sides who I don't think deserve to be in there.
I could probably name less players and top 5 clubs in Serie A. Juventus - Pirlo, Buffon AC Milan - Balotelli, El Shaaraawyayawyay. Inter(?) - Erm, i should know this, we're playing them. Maicon (LOL) After than i'm struggling Fiorentina - Batistuta, Rui Costa Roma - That pants guy. Totti! I might be living in the 90s
The UEFA coefficients are a bit ****y. They average out over five years, but include loads of clubs who haven't played for ages. So the Italians have their coeffients dragged down by clubs like Palermo, Sampdoria and Genoa who were in Europe once in the last five years and did ****. Whereas the Germans are dragged up by the fact that their clubs are often a bit more consistent, particularly Bayern and Schalke recently. That said, there are still three German clubs in the CL, and Udinese didn't even make it to the group stage (again), so it's hard to argue for Italy getting four spots.
