Young didn't look at the goal, only the ball the idiot and that's fatal. Ok lads, off on my hols, see you in a few weeks.
England out on penalties in the quarter-final? Who could've seen that coming? Ashley Young was dire throughout and Rooney wasn't much better. Perhaps he should've been made to fight for his place?
Yeah justice was done. I had a saturday job when I was younger and missed England beating Spain on penalties in euro 96. I wonder if I will ever see a team I support win one!
Can anyone give me a convincing argument for putting Rooney forward as our best player? He should have been subbed for Defoe. Roy, like every other manager who would have take his place, had ****ed up by being suckered into the Rooney love-in.
how anyone in that england setup allowed Young to take one of the first 5 penalties, I will never know. Absolutely horrendous tonight and almost as bad in the other 3 games. Fairplay to Italy though, they completely outplayed us.
HIAG I completely backtrack on saying he was England's best player previously. He was sh*t, young was sh*t. The defence can really only hold their heads. Why can't we just pass the ball to each other is it that hard? Hodgson got it so wrong playing 2 up front. Dreadful dreadful performance.
Agree Rooney has confirmed that he is not an international player. Welbeck did well and was unlucky to be subbed. Leave Rooney out next time and bring him on for the last 20 minutes to see if that fires him up. Italy deserved to go through.
Thank Christ for that! Seven players in the box for the majority of the match, 37% of the possession, eight shots compared to 31 - a team set up to try and catch Italy on the break, yet nobody was up the pitch to actually break. England's tactics seem to have been adopted from Dignitas.
I said right from before the tournament that Rooney should not have gone. Before this tournament he failed to perform for England, and in this tournament, he failed to perform for England. All those so-called professional pundits were speaking through their arse-holes, and I have no doubt that they will continue to do so on his account. But let it be known among the hundreds and thousands of those who actually matter, that Rooney should never play for England.
Eel beck can count himself extremely unlucky to get subbed yet again. If anybody was going to score from one of our rare breaks, it was him. Rooney?...well, it's all been said. Dire, dire performance. I'm actually glad Italy won, perhaps it will show Woy that " the Chalsea method" doesn't always work, and certainly doesnt't win you any friends. If, and until, we ever learn the basics of football, I.e. how to pass accurately, control the ball properly, and retain possession for more than a few seconds, we will continue to fail dismally when faced with real class.
Autocorrect on the iPhone, NSIS? I thought Rooney was unlucky tonight. Poor, but unlucky. Got no decent service at all because Parker and gerrard struggled to deal with the Italy midfield. What was going on with our defence? We seemed to forget what the offside trap was tonight.
Couldn't believe the subs. Young and Rooney had been dire and should have gone off. Young shouldn't have been on the pitch in order to take a pen! Completely echo the Rooney comments. We effectively sacrificed a useful player in order to accommodate Rooney, be it either as another striker or (more sensibly) and extra midfield player. The TalkShite "pundits" might pick on Parker, but by having two in the middle we are effectively running Parker into the ground and negating much of Gerrard's effectiveness. It will be used an excuse to argue against our midfield because we were (and we were) overrun ... but someone else was needed, we must not abandon the defensive midfielder, and also we need someone working harder on the wings - Walnutt and Young are not going to put in that work. Milner was unlucky to get subbed I thought, I felt sure Young would be off and maybe he would switch. As for Roy being built up to genius levels in the past few days he showed his limitations here, believing in the Rooney bandwagon and consequently surrendering the midfield.
Cant blame Rooney when are **** midfield cant keep the ball. Even Messi would struggle playing in the same team as Parker and Henderson in center midfield.
I think the complaints are about what Rooney did when he did get the ball (or didn't) rather than the lack of service. Parker was not on the field with Henderson, Gerrard was. Plus points IMO Welbeck Parker and Hart is class. The rest of the side should be reconsidered.
