Wigan win?

  • Total voters
    22
  • Poll closed .
May 1984?
That’s in the dna then and we’re always just missing out in promotions or cup finals?
Sunderland have lost 7 times at Wembley in recent times
That’s fuxking it up at the final hurdle
When have we done that and been that close to a promotion in our history?
Hardly at all

I agree, it's a daft City trope that doesn't have much modern day evidence to support it. We did lose the play-offs in 2000 (?) too, but that was with a squad punching way above its weight and was largely down to Matthew Lockwood, an extremely talented Leyton Orient werepig.

How have we? What have we just missed out on? And when ?
a) By not scoring enough goals
b) Promotion
c) 1984

EDIT- I don’t think it’s in our DNA. Look how funny TWS used to be ****ing up at the last hurdle, and Sunderland of course. I’m still not confident until I see a P next to us in the league table, but that’s just pessimism and hating to get let down so always assuming the worst

EDIT AGAIN - assuming the worst about the team you support is in fans DNA though

Speaking to a cpl of Leeds supporters they cannot believe we might/possibly/maybe getting out of this league at the first time of asking. To a man they said it’s a really difficult league to get out of..
Just ask slumberland

It’s never easy especially for a team that was in free fall leading to relegation. Some very decent clubs who have been in the championship and premier league in the last few years who are still stuck in this league. We have had a massive turn around to be where we are at this moment in time. I think it’s surprised many from other clubs and a few on here. To finish the job off will be a marvellous achievement and watching the team lately absolutely fully deserved.

And them stamping on Andy Holt's foot in first ten minutes of the return leg.

I'll hold my hand up and say I was a MTM voter.... I thought a couple of months back we had blown it and were slipping back into a mirror of last season. BUT fair play to all concerned when the going got tough they got going and then some. We are not over the line however and when we are - fingers crossed - a proper look at what we need to ensure we're not coming back anytime soon will be needed.. I'm still not a fan of the manager at all, but he will obviously have to be given the chance to hang himself...

Regardless of what our DNA may or may not indicate we are on a pretty remarkable run of form right now! And if we can keep it going just a bit longer I think don't anyone could say we don't deserve to go up.

While its a lovely position to be currently looking down at the rest no chickens shall be counted here til we are mathematically certain of promotion .. however when Sunderland fans come on invading the board telling us how good they are it does leave a nice taste when I see they've messed up the last 2 games. Karma ! Stay humble .. stay focused and let's get the job done .. then we can celebrate.

Word of caution .. looks like Fleetwood are also on a good run .. as I said stay focused and let's get the job done .. time to celebrate will come in good time if we take care of business

I don't feel as confident as the odds, but it's pretty damn close :emoticon-0176-smoke

You always get a few fans from other clubs who would come on acting clever and obviously winding people up when they are doing well then disappear if things are not going to plan. Then you get fans who are totally dedicated, been following their clubs through thick and thin and are very hurt when it’s a disappointing end, I could never get any pleasure from rubbing in it in because I understand how it feels in city’s struggling times. Having said all that after last season all I’m interested in is my club and the great feeling it brings when you are top. Just want to see us finish the job off now and hopefully getting back into the kcom watching championship football

As long as we go up, I wouldn’t mind Oxford, Charlton or Blackpool going up too. I used to love the play off weekend. Haven’t really had chance to enjoy it as much over recent years though.

If Sky is offering 1/25 to be promoted you know it's a done deal. You should never take anything for granted in football but on this occasion the chickens are counted. Should it all go xxxx up I promise to keep a low profile for a while to save having to duck abuse.
