End FA Cup Replays ?? what's the alternative ??

A difficult one this as it does seem to split into the haves and the have nots....clubs fighting for survival or promotion/championship are always wanting to avoid replays as it could adversely effect their challenge.
However i do believe there is a truth to the idea that most players and managers would love to give the FA Cup the respect it deserves.....my solution would be this:

1. Any score draw would end on 90mins with the win given to the away team on an away goals rule basis

2. any game finishing 0-0 will get extra time (same rules as above at full time on extra time) if it finishes 0-0 then straight to pens.

This would mean that home teams needs to push for goals, likewise the away team. Good defensive performances could still be rewarded, but a push for a goal by the away side would keep matches open and flowing.

Thoughts ???

Have extra time in the 1st game then a replay if level.
The replay should then be 90 mins then straight to pens
This would cut replays.
Alternatively cut the championship to 38 games.
 
Take Bruce's relaxed attitude to the FA Cup to the max and make it a competition just for players of Josh Tymon's age and under. It could be called the FA Youth Cup.
 
There's no problem to replay's , carry on .
It's only the usual top four that seem to want away with them ( oh and Steve Bruce) .

The current discussions between the Premier League and the Football League are based on the FA Cup becoming a midweek competition with no replays and with the two-leg semi-finals also being scrapped (all to be done ahead of the 2022 World Cup, nothing will be done ahead of the current deal expiring in 2018).

I'd leave things as they are.

In fact, I'd scrap the League Cup completely ahead of messing with the format of the FA Cup, at least it would get taken more seriously.

I honestly dont think there's a problem. Nearly if not all of the top 35 clubs in the country have big enough squads to cope. We certainly do.

I have no idea why Bruce complained, surely its better for both the club and our players if those currently not getting a game have a run out in the cup to keep their interest up, lift their spirits and improve sharpness. It can only be good for our league campaign having these 10 players get some game time under their belts. In addition the fans like it, there's more money coming in from tv and pay on the gate and it's a welcome distraction.

the alternative is to get rid of those effing international breaks which take up a huge proportion of the season and bore the pants off everyone with no tangible benefit.

The away goals rule only works if it's over 2 legs otherwise it gives a massive advantage to the away team in a one-off game.

The domestic calendar is fine - it's the international one that ****s everything up. Time for a complete re-think from FIFA/UEFA on the football calendar (why start
in August for example) except those in charge instead of thinking what changes are best for the game are busy covering their tracks amidst the corruption scandal.
 
They should stop whinging & get on with the jobs they are paid to do.

There's a competition, they enter, they know the rules. If they don't like it, don't enter.

We made 10 changes to the team that drew with Brighton. How does that affect the team that'll play tonight? The game on Saturday & the upcoming replay gives players, not currently in the team, a run out, improving match fitness. These games benefit our squad.

Replays have a bigger physical impact on lower league squads who don't have the available players to change the whole team.

Players & managers today are soft ****s who want the money, want to bask in the glory, want the headlines written about them & want to rejoice in their self applied legendary status whilst not appearing to want to put in the effort when training, not wanting to travel to three games in a week whilst also not wanting to play the available minutes on the pitch to achieve the status the think they deserve. In reality they're soft pussy cockwombles.

The FA Cup was around before the PL & well before the CL. Change them before considering to change the FA Cup. If they made the CL what it says on the tin there'd be no need to change anything. It's a money orientated bag of TV ****, an opportunity for 2nd, 3rd & 4th placed teams all over Europe to whore themselves out to the highest bidder so they can pretend to be Champions. Champion ****s maybe, but that's as far as it goes.

Successful players in years past managed 42 League games, a minimum of 6 FA Cup games to the final, with the chance of numerous replays. None of this single replay & penalties ****e. The League Cup was taken seriously also, no playing the kids back then. All this alongside playing in Europe. They didn't play on the perfect green carpets the precious ****s play on today, they played in mud, with proper tackling. Nowadays teams use 30+ players to win a 38 game PL & moan about the amount of games they play, in 1981 Villa won a 42 game Div 1 title using just 14 players. Proper players earning their crust & achieving success for the fans.

Success nowadays is earning as much money as they can for doing as little as possible for it & has **** all to do with personal pride or achieving success on behalf of the loyal supporters.

The only supporters who'd want change now are the PL, Soccer AM types, or ****s as they're known locally in my house, who won't be happy until they've altered the face of football completely.

Change nowt, unless they're changing it back to how it was.

Doesnt legend have it Liverpool won the league once using only 15 players or something like that? I havent checked but Ive defo heard the rumour. And that was when pitches were leg sapping mud baths from October to April and the balls ****loads heavier while every defender was a hairy leg-breaking bastard with a rabid desire to bite anyone's nads off.

Managing any congestion arising from being in more than one competition is part of the challenge of winning doubles, trebles etc. It's part of what makes it such an achievement.

The team who do it best are the most successful.

The meddlers won't be happy till they have turned the game into the Dancing on Grass Show.
