Hey guys

saw an interview with nasri and he says the arsenal fans are not as passionate since the move from Highbury to Emirates.

Also Fabregas clear states he was happier at Highbury and was not that Happy at Emirates.

So Who has been to both? Why do you think that these two players are saying this about Emirates?

Was just wondering do arsenal fans think the move was good, and is it true?

P.S its on the Newcastle board because i specifically wanted toon fans opinions.
 
Well, Highbury had a nice cosy feeling about it. I recall the pre-all seater days where standing allowed one greater association with one's fellow gooners. The Emirates is a vast place and it's a magnificent stadium. I think all seaters while being more comfortable, tend to lend a more clinical feel. There was something more intimate about Highbury and of course, it came with all the history. I'll bet fans who end up at the Olympic Stadium may feel the same way about where they will have left too...
 
At Highbury there was always that lass (or lad with his balls in a vice) who sat behind one of the goals (the one to left usually on TV) who screamed whenever the away team scored.

The Highbury Library name has no actual reference to it being quiet, just a stupid name made up by someone who's vocabulary was clearly basic. "What rhymes with Highbury .... Library".

Highbury had a far better atmosphere and was closer to the pitch. I could pick up 2 tickets from touts 5 mins before kick off for around £40 - £50, job done.

Now you need a small mortgage if you want 2 tickets to a game with some grub and a drink. Its priced most of the casual fans out of going, by casual I mean those who buy tickets when they are able to go .. not season ticket holders. I'd decide to go impromptu with a group of mates, we'd go down, get tickets from touts if the box office was sold out and sing and shout for most of the game.

Success has driven fans away, it is difficult to get tickets and the cost is too high - and the club feel they are justified in hiking ticket prices but not spending money on decent players. Its a joke. now you have numpties going along how are a shambles, no passion, prawn sandwich brigade I guess you might call them.
 
I hate the Emirates. It's a building not a football stadium. I never went to Highbury but I can't imagine it being worse really. Also the seats (at least in the away section) at the Emirates are so shallow, if you've got someone 3/4 inches taller in front of you, you're blind

Watching that game again reminds me of how muched I loved Robert when he was here, and prove's just how far we've fallen. Top of the league at Christmas.

Also shows how much of a headline grabbing tw*t Graham Poll was. He was always so up his own arse. Karma is a beautiful thing though, 3 yellow cards to Simunic :)

It's not hard to get tickets if your a member.Tickets are on sale to red members for Swansea & Bolton
 
Just another victim of the Sky era really. Along with places like The Dell, Maine Road and even Wembley. Personally, I hate the modern replacements to each. As someone said earlier, they're just buildings with no personality.

Went to Highbury many moons ago and it had a better atmosphere than the Emirates.

Still wouldn't knock the Emirates though because it's a nice comfortable stadium.
 
I would absolutely HATE it if we moved from SJP. Not just the stadium itself, but also the location, is great.
