but now it's steve bruce's team and he will sign players, and to be quite right, steve walsh scouted them and nigel just finished all the paperwork !

At the minute you don't have team. You seem to think Bruce is going to attract big names like Sven did for us. Hull isn't as appealing as us, you don't have the same backing or fan base. Or manager rep to attract them

Nigel worked with the England youth set ups so he knew alot of players from there. It wasn't all Steve Walsh

Steve Walsh is back here now as well!

Also yelling is fun!

James Chester was one of THE stand out defenders of the Championship last season, easily worth a minimum of £5m. The problem you have is your current manager gave Chester that valuation of Chester when he managed us.
That doesn't always follow, as we found out with the stand out 2010/11 centre back Matt Mills. If we still had Sven, Chester would already be on his way to Leicester.

Im glad we have Pearson who isn't willing to overpay <ok>

Anyone want to actually talk about Heskey in this thread now?

Yes - still think he would e a great signing for us given the likely make-up of the rest of the squad

For the record, i'd drive Chester to Leicester myself for £4m... yes he's awesome but we bought him for £300k, i'm not saying that detracts from his value in anyway, he's easily our best asset taking his age into consideration, but for £4m we could get another easily good enough defender at this level and have millions left over. I agree Chester was way up there with the best defenders in the league last year but 7 teams finished above us last year without him, 3 teams got promoted without him, we can too (and so could Leicester)

to put it simply if Matt Mills is worth £5m this time last year, Chester is worth equal that now. But Mills was never worth that much which everyone should agree with, therfore Chester isn't worth that either. Reading had the best defence in the league last year (conceding 10 less goals than the previous season) despite selling their prize defender.

To lose Chester to anyone would be devastating but hardly the end of the world, we'd only sell him at a ridiculous price that could buy us easily another 2 quality players for this level. In fact knowing this i don't really understand why Nige is after him, but i suppose when you've got the cash you get who you want, not necessarily the who is the most sensibly priced for their ability.

Oh and i hope you sign Heskey, i'm not gonna slag him off (just in case we sign him) but when the best thing about signing a player is his fame rather than his ability/record i'd rather we stay away.

Now **** off from our team, you can't have ANY of them!!!!

Tbf I'm on the fence regarding Heskey coming back. Personally I don't think you'll get him.

I have no idea, Bruce is still an unknown quantity for me in terms of pulling players who wouldn't otherwise come here. I'd rather us get Craig Gordon as he could easily be the best keeper at this level should he stay fit

A bit of sense from a Hull fan <yikes>

I have backed both Leicester city 8/1 and Hull City 28/1 both to be promoted in a double.

So here's hoping we Both go up.

After all our clubs are not arch rivals are they ?

It's Leeds , Middlesborough and Sheffield Wednesday I would like to see flop ...

We Both have managers capable of taking our clubs forward in my opinion.

;)

As for Heskey. I think he would be a gamble for either club . I wouldn't be suprised if he played in the Championship he would become a target for being kicked off the park by piss poor defenders .

I would not buy him.

Having said that what would I know iv never even managed a pub team and even in fantasy football iv never finished in the top half in the league I enter every season

;)

You will believe that we're going all out for James Chester then my friend if you follow Fourth Official. But don't tell our friends from Humberside or East Yorkshire about it !!

4th Official is totally bollox. Only fools believe that site. One other problem is that Allams wont sell to Festa City. If your that desperate you can have Paul McShane for £1.5m(the amount NP likes to bid for our players). ;)

I think it will take something simaliar like the Matt Mills deal to get Chester. Because for starters they dont want to sell and they dont want to sell to us. But they wont be able to turn down 4M plus

How on earth does anyone put Matt Mills and James Chester in the same sentence ? Its like saying King and Messi.:emoticon-0111-blush

Why wouldn't we be able to turn that down? Does he have a release clause in his contract? <doh>

No release clause and No Chester wont be going to Festa. IF and its a massive IF Chester does go it will be to a PL club. Festa are just a kid-table championship team with a clueless manager when it comes tactics and know how.

You value your players miles too high. Chester isnt that good. For 3M plus i would expect someone good enough for the prem

Chester has the potential but he isnt good enough yet. Any more then 3M then there is better players out there for that price

Looks like NP has given up on Chester and now has bid £1.5m for Jason Shackell from Derby County. Surprise Surprise, The bid has been turned down as not big enough. Pearson on the cheap yet again. NP will be Sacked by November.

4m is a complete and utter insult

Agreed. I would not even reply to the call or fax for a peny under £10m. That will show how serious flat top is.

If you muppets paid £5 Million for Mills then JC is worth £10m !!!!

Your just a mid table outfit with a average manager.

Festa have done well to be that. Why would any player with ambition want to join negative Pearsons shambles ? ;)

Don't these Dull fans get on yer ****ing tits

Kettle and Pot springs to mind. I bet your tits arev 42 DD eh ?

10m quid?

Bargain.

Told you so.

When Curtis Davies a real prem quality defender is going for 4M then no one is good to touch Chester at that price because Curtis is better

Curtis Davies is going with Chris Hughton to Norwich City. You can have Zak Whithead for Free as he has been released. Now thats a bargain and affordable for your club.

Alright, offer £80 million, and we'll start some negotiating. Even then I doubt you'd agree personal terms with him.

Ok Ok Ok, you lot win. £80m then and James Chester is yours. Now lets see your ambition. <whistle>

James Chester was one of THE stand out defenders of the Championship last season, easily worth a minimum of £5m. The problem you have is your current manager gave Chester that valuation of Chester when he managed us.

He won't be leaving Hull City for Leicester, we have a wealthy board, a better manager, and better foundations for a promotional push next season. Steve Bruce obviously wanted assurances before he started regarding finance for new signings. Money is available, and the board re-iterated we will not be selling our better players. Steve Bruce also maintains our Man Utd connections to take preference on any more starlets <ok>

When you mention NP and Festa to James Chester a finger down the throat motion occurs. Why would any sane person want to go to LCFC ? Go for the cheap options you know it makes sense but you have not realised it yet.

Why would Chester want to go? He now has the chance to work under arguably the best centre half that never played for England. He can learn a lot more from Bruce than Pearson

Correct. What will he learn from Pearson ? very very little. He is ambitious you know and wants to play in the PL.

No, we still had decent players, one of the best attacking midfielders (Koren) who Pearson played out on the wing. This wasn't due to not having other options on the wing either.

Negative Nigel P. was clueless when it came to Koren and where to play him. Barmby got the best out of Koren and Bruce will buid his team around Robbie K. Chester was in the top 3 centre backs last season and will be the best next season. He wont be rushing to leave with the ambition that has been set out by the owners and new manager.

He's called Steve Bruce, and guess what, he was a fantastic centre half.

Yes he was. Bruce and Pallister(gary) were 2 of the best combos in the PL over the years. Look at what they won ?

At the minute you don't have team. You seem to think Bruce is going to attract big names like Sven did for us. Hull isn't as appealing as us, you don't have the same backing or fan base. Or manager rep to attract them

Nigel worked with the England youth set ups so he knew alot of players from there. It wasn't all Steve Walsh

No, Sven attracted players due to the wages only. You have to pay over the odds as nobody likes Lesta. Bruce will pay a sensible amount and get who he wants. Thats the difference folks. :emoticon-0103-cool:

That doesn't always follow, as we found out with the stand out 2010/11 centre back Matt Mills. If we still had Sven, Chester would already be on his way to Leicester.

?

Dont be too sure. Sadly you lot shall never know that now. HA ha ha ha. :emoticon-0116-evilg

Please don't sign for Hull Heskey, sign for us! There we go :)

Heskey has signed a 2 year deal for Hull City ive been told. Not that expensive either. Fryatt will be happy now. :1980_boogie_down:

<hug>
I bear Hull no ill will, but we have lost Coventry, so atm we only have Florest as rivals ;)

Don't think we will get promoted though if last years inconsistencies plague us again, but as long as we're promoted, i don't really mind who else gets promoted, and if your bet comes off, all the better, plus you can get the round in when you come down for our premier league clash <ok>

They think they will get 10M for Chester <laugh>

Anyone with half a brain will realise they wont even get half of that.
