It's frustrating but, given our situation, that clause might have been the only way the deal could be done at the time.
I'm assuming we're covering his wages, so unless Villa do seriously want to play him, I think they'll be cautious about recalling him as the new manager will have other, no doubt expensive, targets.

Unfortunately, it seems a no-brainer for Villa, they are struggling at the back and he is playing well, I can see him going.
P.S. On the plus side at least having him these last few weeks has given time for the other centre-backs to play and get to know each other, so hopefully if he does go they can step up and do a reasonable job.
