Depends where the 1st gen is from really.

Irish and English have pretty much the same culture and beliefs and speak the same language these days.

Much like the Ukrainians that we brought over... Not heard a peep of trouble from them.

Tends to be racists that get called 'racist' in my experience... best way to avoid that is to avoid being racist... you live and learn ...

I couldn't even remember the proper name of them as I was writing, I'm like **** knows they go in the ceiling. Think I've got rid of all the dodgy ones now , bought some last for decades ones (my mental arithmetic is not very good lol), which will probably pack up within a couple of years.

I think with these longlife bulbs lamps, well I won't have to change them anymore, they will out live me...

if my experience of those long life ones is anything to go by we should start looking for a new Mod immediately <whistle>

I got one in a bedroom lamp, and it's gone already and I had to replace it...although I didn't pay top dollar for them, I just thought as long as they last longer than they normally do. Plus I don't like lamps that get hot, my house is hot enough lol...but maybe they are all cool to the touch now.

yeah ours are in bathroom as most difficult to get a so naturally they're blowing in about 18 months .
Luckily the wifes physio is tall and they seem to blow just before she is due so get het to replace them .

Trouble is with all this stuff, you never get to anyone that is in power who were involved, so the spiral never ends. By the time they found out about the abuse down Romney way many years ago, that involved London Borough Councils feeding them chidren for their crimes, time the police got there the culprits had long passed on from this life.

Tell you what surprised me today, and probably shows out of touch i am, but I didn't realise we still built schools in the UK based on religion. In this case the discussion was around Catholic schools. I honestly never realised we still attached religion to school, specifically new builds. I went to a CofE but assumed that was a thing of the past.

The most successful school where I grew up is a Catholic school

It depends where it's funding comes from and it's board of directors.

They're subject to the exact same Ofsted regulations and have to teach RE like any other school. It just comes with added religious practices and perhaps a specific religious area for students.

Our school had a chapel with a full time chaplain and we had mass and celebrated religious days. We had tons of Irish Catholics.

I always remember having to do hymns and prayers every morning, but that was little school, don't remember any of that at secondary school.
 
I think we might have had to say grace as well before lunch (dinner) was served. I'm sure we did.
