As for Lebanon and other places in the middle east, yeah if we support their police forces, then there's less likelihood of armed militia taking over and creating refugees who want to flee

What you need to understand @Sucky is that the money that goes to supporting the Lebanese security forces, is in UK interests as it prevents armed factions like Hezbollah or terrorist groups linked to Islamic State from exerting control in Lebanon. And then destabilising the region, creating refugees and security issues for the UK both abroad and at our borders.

This is something that I would have thought you'd be supporting.
