Just seen you edited your post.Give your head a wobble ffs. How recently were you saying employers should wean themselves off cheap foreign labour? Now you're saying it's okay to hire kids and pay them a pittance, so long as they're serving you a double espresso.
The hospitality sector is ****ed because nobody is spending money, not because they can no longer exploit kids for pocket money. Which is hardly surprising since Brexit has made us all 6% poorer.
Yes I did complain about migrant exploitation, exploitation where they didn't get proper breaks, exploitation when the accomodation they were given was the pits and multiple occupancy without adequate facilities. Thought you would be against actual exploitation.
The reason the UK didn't employ UK kids on the minimum wage BEFORE Reeves increases, was because of this exploitation. People often tend to allude the EU was cheap, yes of course it is, because we and they, especially in Spain were exploiting people.
Don't try and combine the two, because Rachel Reeves made subsequent increase to minimum wages and taxes after the exploitation had finished (UK only). The original wages were still well above explotaition levels and affordable with the exception of lifes fraudsters who deal in the black market.
For someone who is supposed to be a hard-line union guy I'm surprised you don't understand all this and it has to be explained to you. But you are happy for those at the very bottom of the ladder to be exploited, because you look down on them, then when they are unemployed you will call them skivers, when they've always been treated as slaves.
This is not now above slaves this about businesses being able to pay a fair wage to kids, without Reeves screwing the small businesses over and sending them to the wall, so we have more unemployed.
You really need to get your head out of the history books make and start reading about modern day exploitation. I've posted enough of the material up on this site, that often gets ignored, and you know why, because you don't ****ing care.
