... but this story looks like just another teenager saying 'Mam, can I have ...' to me.

His family want cash, from the public, to send him to America to coach kids over there, I assume their aren't any in South Shields. They're saying, "We’re just trying to do all we can to make this a reality for him.”

I think they're a bloody long way from reality.
(Either that or they just want him out of the house.)

Yes some people don't have loads of money, some struggle to have a full cupboard and fridge but I believe there's a large proportion of food bank users who milk the system for all its worth. Why spend on food when you can get it for free? more for you to spend on ***s, booze and drugs if some dopey twat is filling your cupboards every week for nothing.

We are a country of free loaders and as long as there's those who sympathise and provide all this free stuff a percentage of the population will continue to take everything on offer and keep coming back for more. The more you give the more they want and expect.

Had a scouse lad work for me a few years ago, caught in mid conversation with a few of my younger members of staff describing in detail how to ride the Metro for free. The look on his face when I just suggested he pay his way like everyone else - you'd think I'd asked him to explain the Quantum theory in Latin

The people who really need their heads checking is anybody who contributes to it. There are 1000s of charities in this country alone that are struggling for funds. And thats before you look at the rest of the world and all of the atrocities and horrendous things going on elsewhere. If you have money to share for charity or the good of society, don't spend it on sending some lad to the states.

Especially because as he's been taught you can get whatever you want, when you want, he won't truly value it and will likely come backk after 6 months as he's homesick.

The reason those who pay have to pay so much is those who navigate their way around not paying their way. Same for any form of theft, none of it is victimless and it all makes me sick.

The trouble is Smug, most kids between 13 and their 30's want it now without doing anything to earn it. Most seem to want it delivered up on a plate or feel they are entitled to own the best trainers, the best designer clothes, the need to drive flash cars or own flash houses without doing anything in return, you know what I mean.

Someone set up a go fund me type of deal and the good gullible folk of the internet sent her 60k.

Turns out she's in regional Victoria which has barely had half the lockdowns of Melbourne. And she'd ran her business into the ground with 400k debts prior to the pandemic.

Some poor **** gave her 10 grand for her business last year and she spent it on a trip to Bali.

I won’t deny that some are in genuine need of food banks- but as you say , for some it’s just a freebie. I wonder where all their family members are , probably thinking “ I could help them , but why spend my money on them when strangers are doing it”. As fir the people who donate , would they still be there if the takers were saying “ all my money has gone on food this week- can you please give something to the tab and lager bank”
