As with most things in life, people will do what they feel like and for that there’s no right or wrong reason for going or not going. I decided to continue going because my lad is football mad, I didn’t want him taking the easy option a lot of his friends have done which was ‘support’ Manchester City or whoever else is flavour of the month.

I have also experienced a lot of bereavement over the last few years and I don’t want to delay watching matches with my lad - we never know when our time is up.

So, I will continue attending and I will also continue to think the Allams are ****s. I don’t think morals/principles come into play, just varying perspectives on what is or isn’t important. For me it’s more important watching matches with my lad than it is holding a grudge and not going. I won’t be around forever.

Fantastic way to look at it and also just as valid of a reason for going as the reasons people like kempton etc don't go.

Geographically I can’t attend games anymore and I do really miss Saturday’s and football. Does that mean I am not a City supporter now. I don’t think so as I still follow the Club, listen to the results, watch on the web etc and to be honest read everything I can every day. If someone doesn’t go to the games now because they don’t want to for whatever the reason then that is their choice and should be respected. I don’t believe that there are many on here who would just switch to supporting another club. The Allams are only doing what they are doing because they can see the end of the cash cow now. I get they want their money back and the gift to the City was just bullshit. Having seen how they have behaved in the years since the purchase we should all be able to see that. We don’t need to get on anyone’s back because they don’t want to go but I don’t believe for a minute that they are still not true supporters. Get on the back of all the twats wearing Liverpool shirts or those who have switched to the current premiership golden boys. They deserve it, we don’t.

Takes me back to my first game, seeing the pitch for the first time, the crowd, the smell of smoke and booze in the air - BP seemed like Wembley to me.

Of course principles come into it. Principles are an individual thing. What’s good for one person isn’t for another. That doesn’t mean what one person holds up as an important principle is either right or wrong. The moral is that you stay true to your individual principles, as best you can.

And yet people do it. Ten years ago there was no one in a Man City shirt and now they are everywhere. Man City are the new Man Utd. People like success and want to be associated with it. Hence when we were doing well in the Premiership there were lots more kids wearing City shirts. It’s not silly more like fact. There is a great deal of sadness in this fantastic opportunity we had to establish ourselves as a success. I don’t think it’s just measured in relegation or promotion but one certainly does reflect the amount who will be interested in remaining in a City shirt.

Having said that, I believe Steve is the good man who gave the ****er sign to Ehab on the way back from an away game, didn't Ehab try to cut him off? So respect for that

As I have said previously I coach kids Sunday league football. There are 24 kids approximately and up until 2 years ago there were 10-12 that would turn up to training in Hull City kits. Now there’s 1 - my lad. The rest turn up in Man City/Liverpool/Man Utd kits. As a professional league club Hull City have spectacularly failed to hold onto a generation of supporters. They are very unlikely to get that back. Looking at the bigger picture I’d probably say my experience is a fair reflection of most of the Sunday leagues. It’s certainly what I see.

Occasional kids for a quid activity or reduced ticket prices inviting schools to matches etc would I’m sure have maintained a decent percentage of that support.

Sometimes principles get disregarded as there are more important things in play. For me anyway, as outlined in my previous post.

That’s what makes them individual. For me, at the moment, there isn’t. Doesn’t make me right or you wrong or tuther way round. It’s what’s right for the individual, but principles all the same.

Something may crop up again to make me attend a game (last one was the Villa game when there was applause for Geo’s lad, it was also my lads birthday. My principles were trumped by more important things that day, it happens). If my lad was younger I may still be going, I’ve encouraged others to do so when they’ve been trying to decide.

He's not accusing anyone though is he Kemps, he simply stated that some people have chosen other clubs which is true, I know a few lads who have stopped going to City and now go to watch Hull fc, Im sure there's many more that have switched to the Rugby.
