1990 for me and what a tournament, I don’t think I’ll ever love football as I did in that tournament. The games, the music, the players on show, just amazing gives me goosebumps to this day thinking about it. I was 11 at the time perfect age for it!

It was, and one leg was crooked, hence his free kicks had a vicious swerve on them, Bobby Kerr had the same ability until he broke his leg, and the surgeons made too good a job of fixing it, and as a consequence he lost some of that ability to bend the ball.

We didn't have a telly for the 58 and 62 world cups so no real memories. First was 66 and first stand out memory was watching the Italians training at Houghal. Russians were over the road but never got to see them although my sister worked at Brown's where they went for their haircuts and she got all their autographs except for the one that would have been my favourite i.e. Lev Yashin but he was kept under heavy security amid rumours he wanted to defect.

Tell you what mate. the difference between 94 and 98 was just radical. Not just style of football but things like kit quality and camera quality. They look more 15 years apart than 4.
Well I was Alive for 82 but i still hadn't had my 1st birthday.

Having 3 kids adds at least a decade to me. Probably a decade per child.
Child free me. Been married, had multiple long term relationships but very careful not to have any kids.

1966 world cup.. I remember every kid in the street out with a ball straight after we won it..
In 1966 I was stationed at RAF Leconfield, just outside of Beverley in South Yorkshire.
The Station had Lightning's and was HQ for the Air-Sea rescue choppers that operated along the NE Coast and was a Maintainance Unit.
The Station was to have an open day on 30 July 1966.
As the start of the competition drew close there was some mutterings about 'what if we reach the final' but to be honest, nobody took it seriously.
Anyhow the organisation was progressing and only the CO could, perhaps[s, get it changed and he was a Irishman who was a fervent Rugby Fan.
I managed quite a few Games, here and in Liverpool but all leave for the open day weekend was cancelled.
Once England were set for the final there were very many unhappy souls around.
World Cup Final with England in it or babying hoards of civies who wanted to gawp at Aeroplanes' that's if any turned up?
I worked in HQ and came up with the bright idea of getting a TV in.
Eventually we managed to get our Flight Sergeant to bring his from home, (he sent his kids next door for the game.
We got an old Aerial that was doing no good and I went up to the roof (flat fortunately) and fixed it up.
A certain amount of moving it about to get a picture and we were in.
Come the day, you would be amazed at the numbers that turned up.
We,that is the HO Staff were ok though.
We saw all the game apart from having to do a few minor duties.
The word got round the lads and all sorts of reasons must have been conjured up to go to HQ's.
Even the CO called in to see how the game was going.
So, my abiding memory of The 1966 World Cup wasn't the games I watched live, it's of the final that could so easily have been missed.

1970 and THAT world cup, Pele , jarazhino etc !. Talking about the 1978 world cup and final do you know the story of one of the Holland player wearing a cast on his wrist and the Argies complained and there was nearly no world cup final that year due to that. And they beat Peru 6-0 in dodgy curcumstances to get to the final hehe, just like Maradona having a 'hand' in 1986. excuse my spelling I have had a drink lads.

After the games all the kids on the estate would be out on the street corner practicing their Cruyff turns or trying to reproduce the wonder goals from Johan Neekens and Johnny Rep.
The hosts, Germany, beat Holland 2-1 in the final, led by the great Frank Beckenbauer with Gerd Muller scoring the winner, but the Dutch were the stars of the show.

The 1970 world cup final. I was ten years old but remember Pele and Co tearing Italy apart to win 4-1.
I think that was the year that Brazil won their third world cup and were allowed to keep the trophy
