As the 'Greatest Show on Earth' is upon us again, it got me thinking about WC's gone by.!?
    What's your earliest WC memory?
Mine is 1978 and the World Cup theme music.
I sat in amazement watching the ticker-tape rain down from the stands

Bit too young to have emotions on the line. It's the first one I remember but the memories are hazy. Remember this more.

My first memory was Robson's goal against France in 1982. Hurts so much that people's earliest memory is 1990.

born 85 have vague memories of Italia 90.

Bold memories of USA 94 most notably Ray Houghton's goal against Italy and the penalty shoot out in the final Baggio missing against Brazil

78 WC is my earliest.... Mario Kempes and the ticker tape. As said above.... Magical memories! Sure I was collecting panini stickers for that WC but def was in 82.
Favourite WC 90...Platts last minute goal v Belgium... Was on my honeymoon and my wife sat in the car while I watched the match in a Florida pub... Happy days haha.

1966 was mine,I was 8 years old and vividly remember on the final whistle the entire housing estate came on the streets celebrating...I especially remember my dad's reaction when Hurst scored the 4th goal...Amazing

One of the best WC games I’ve watched
How did Brazil not win that tournament?
The football they played was brilliant

In 1966 I work in a big department store in Newcastle and the South Korea team came in doing some shopping, I got most of their autographs and the one I can recall now was Pak Do Ik. They were all about 5'6 and I still have those autographs in an old wallet.
Funny what you hang onto for no good reason.

My earliest memories are of the great Brazil team that won it in 1970, featuring the likes of Jairzinho, Tostao, Rivelino, Edu, Alberto, Felix the cat, and that other fella that was quite good. Apart from the many wonderful goals that they scored in that tournament, we'll all remember (even if we didn't all see it 'live') 'that save' from Gordon Banks (which was nearly as good as Monty's memorable moment about 3 years later) and that 'dummy' in the semi-final :emoticon-0100-smile

After that Cruyff and Holland's 'total football' in the 1974 tournament, when they should have won it, had me mesmerised :emoticon-0105-wink:

Don’t remember any of 66 except the final - but feel as if I saw every minute of 70 in total fascination . Would like to see the whole of the 4-3 semi final again .
