Just back from our stay in Durham. Had a great time. We ate at Lebaneat and Tango. Both suberb - so thanks very much for the recommendations. Would definitely go back again next time!
Had a look round the Cathedral and what a humbling experience that was. The commemorative plaque to the Durham Light Infranty was inspirational- how many battles they were involved in. Made me realise what a cushy life I’ve been lucky enough to have.

No other building for the setting and history comes close in this country to Durham Cathedral

Glad you posted this thread, I've bookmarked it for the next time I go.

I recently did the Cathedral tour, for the first time ever, despite having been many times ...

... the DLI tribute is lovely, I still have my Dad's cap badge.
