some of you may remember me sharing the trials and tribulations of according to Trevs point to point season last year. Well Trev is enjoying his retirement. Anyway I might be going to donny next week to the horses in training sale with my mate next week. I personally don’t have the skills to share on this thread but I’m sure one of our smarter posters might be able to download and share on this thread.
Here’s the question. With ten grand on the hip which one of these horses would you take home. My mates whittled it down to about thirty but Alan hills has scrubbed ten of those as over budget.
Anyway if you fancy having a look it’s the Goffs in training sale next Wednesday
The one my mate has his eye on is a midnight legend gelding called knight bachelor whose been with warren greatrex.

Just a heads up re Midnight Legend horses - Alan King will always be interested in these. He’s trained a lot of his offspring, has had a lot of success with them too and therefore loves anything sired by him. Plus he was assistant to trainer to David Nicholson when the horse was in training with him. Not saying Alan King will bid, for this 9YO, but you can guarantee he will have a close look first.

Anyone noted that a Ponsonby / Henderson horse is included in the sale – Commander Miller (146). Should go for next to nothing as well.

Also in the is ex-Henderson inmate (and formerly owned by the heir to the biscuit tin fortune, Rich Richtea) Palixandre (214). New connections haven’t kept this one long! They only bought the old boy back in May. Spend £15k.

Both being just 5YO this pair wouldn’t be at the stages of their career where hunter chases (tally-ho and all that) are the way to go but off hurdling marks of just 97 and 112 both offer considerable scope for improvement. Should go for cheap money as well. Now if only I had more loot in the old vault...what, what?!?

Commander Miller then went to Fawley House Stud for £5k. To use a footballing analogy moving to them from the Ponsonby / Henderson axis must be akin to being transferred from The Arsenal to Chippenham Town. Good luck to the old boy though, say I.

Didn’t manage to make the sale myself but a purchase was made and is safely ensconced in a stable near Chelmsford.all being well he will go pointing this season. I know you’re all dying to know who it is, well its 113 in the catalogue mahlers star . He was on the list and was successfully purchased for £6200. My mate being a northerner was never gonna spend the whole ten grand.
Anyway he’s happy with the result and as pointed out a lot off horses went cheap. Did I see an authorised giginstown horse go for a grand .

My 2 fillies wouldn't have got bought (for the £10k); one went for £11k and the other withdrawn. However, a 4yo gelding has just arrived here from a racing stable for the winter. It's done sfa on the racecourse after 9 races in France and has a top RPR of 65. But that was on his debut when last of 5 btn 6.5l and I suspect the winner was overrated

Lovely temperament. Haven't had a chance to look at him yet as I was out when he arrived. But on saying hello he did look like a very immature baby so not surprised he has been running down the track (mainly at Chantilly where he was stabled)

Wouldn't be surprised if Amanda schools him over some jumps while he is here

Here is the pedigree

Wish him the best of luck. Look forward to hearing about the journey!
