There were two of them, at least one should have put a foot in, if only to disrupt his rhythm. We stood off, he created the space and angle, then he released a sublime shot. It usually happens because it's allowed to. Great players don't run rampant every game; there's a reason for that.
Very easy to say they should have put a foot in. Chances are if they dive in he leaves them on their arse and then still gets the shot off. They were trying to block the shot as he kept threatening to take it. If they didn't attempt to stand their ground and block the shot they'd have been rightly criticised.
Just where were these two players? The midfield nowhere. Thats Cucas' side where was he. Why is Tom back there? He's falling into that trap of dropping off to get space instead of making space for himself in the middle of the park, obviously not in this instance. But why is Tom back there?

They're both entirely focused on stopping him getting a shot off. That's why they were desperately trying to block it, but after the third dummy they were both beaten and he found the space to shoot. He had their pants down cos he's a bloody good player.
Jak and Marshall are about as good as each other...They make mistakes. .They're goalkeepers. Even the best ones drop clangers, (Joe Tart, Pete Chek, Bob Green et al) its how they recover they make them better than the others..
I think that was a factor, perhaps one was waiting for the other to do the deed, as the deed certainly needed doing.
I think a similar goal was in the Sunderland game, when Defoe played across our front, no foot went in and his shot was clinical. On that day Marshall had his feet planted, he didn't adapt to the movement, totally failing to attempt a save, never mind not saving it.
I posted this, on the MDT, just as the game kicked off. He did exactly what I expected.
no bloody wonder the Jak made those mistakes if he's listening to music when he should be focussed.
Mixed game, couple of good saves but rode his luck with another blunder, palmed a harmless looking cross straight into the path of a Swansea forward. Fantastic block by Rannocia (I think) spared his blushes. He aint gonna keep getting away with it.
In fairness it wasn't a harmless cross it was going past him in the 6 yard box. One of them where he has to get something on it. But yes it really wasn't the place to put it.
Yeah slapped away a ball into the area he probably should have caught, palmed a cross into the path of Routledge we were lucky to get away with, and not sure why he didn't move for Mawson's header. I was critical of Marshall so I'm not going to go easy on Jak for the same sorts of issues. Fact is though we are still conceding a lot less goals with Jak, whether or not that is Jak or Silva, things are working so no point changing.
The goals Marshall conceded are a bit if a red herring used to beat him. It was when we were playing awful. Does anyone seriously believe we'd have been on a winning streak and Jaks goal per game would be as good had he played those matches?
As I keep saying, Jak at his best is the better keeper. At the moment, he isn't at his best, he is incredibly lucky. That wont last for ever.
Weird thing is though that one game aside, we started the season fine with Jak in goal - we kept United out until the 93rd minute and they were on fire at the time. It's hard to look past the change in keeper as one of the mitigating factors in our sharp drop off in form, particularly when our defence only became stronger as we regained Dawson and Maguire in defence.
We've now got two threads dedicated to slagging off our current No.1 GK; this at a time when we are desperate to maintain the kind of form that we found when he was re-established in the starting eleven.
What is even more pathetic is that these threads are being continued by posters who usually lecture others about getting behind the team.
These whinging threads are true to form, as there's definitely no class about them.
