Kinnell Fez, it must be bad enough having to stick an application in to the Insolvency Service adjudicator, without a pair of financial ****wits akin to Merson and Thompson talking knaa know ****e about it.

I'm away to count me pennies. I ain't gonna risk that scenario.

Aye. It made me laugh reading about the respect given to Ian Wright for talking of his financial problems, brought on by trying to avoid income tax. Apparently, he is one appearance fee away from bankruptcy. The article names other frequent pundits as being in the same boat. It seems it's not just their football wisdom that is questionable.

I've always said the jak isn't a premiership keeper and I maintained that when he was playing well (excellently in fact). The issue is I thought Marshall would be much better than he's shown this season. I've seen nowt from Marshall to suggest dropping jak would improve the GK position. We've not had a good number 1 since Myhill left.

Spot on. <ok>

What utter nonsense this thread is. Take away the lackadaisical defending and the excellent finishing, then add a need to blame someone and I suppose this thread might be merited. <doh>

We neither attack the goal, or their attacks 100%, thats the problem; not the GK.

Cure: spend less time listening to bankrupt pundits. <ok>
Couldn't be more wrong. I do feel for goalies in that their mistakes are highlighted, and everyone is allowed the odd clanger. It's how they respond to clangers, and I would question the Jaks. He has been in fantastic form this season, but he is a form player, with him one mistake leads to others. Despite his nomination for team of the month, he is in a bad patch. He made awful mistakes vs both Arsenal and Burnley and was incredibly lucky. Second half of Burnley game, I sit right above him in North stand, he was hesitant coming off his line, strangely appeared to be lacking conviction.
I was actually going to post the same topic prior to yesterdays game. That wasn't listening to pundits/ having to blame someone, just a massive concern, which clearly no one else has noticed. The two errors yesterday were not 'glaring', but he should have done better with both. Giving away the first two goals is quite a big contribution to a 3-1 defeat, especially when 1-0 up. We cant afford to give away any freebies ESPECIALLY when we don't score at the other end (which we don't have a quick fix for).
And if it was just wanting to blame someone, why would I pick the one who everyone wants to defend? I can tolerate players making mistakes, what I find hard to tolerate is lack of commitment. I thought Markovic's performance yesterday was disgraceful. No effort at all, and yes the commentator (I think it was Merson?) did notice that too.

'Freebies'

What about the defending in front of him, or the skill of the attack? Too harsh, too soon and unnecessary criticism.

We lost after being 1-0 up because the team kept giving it away, as in the last two games. The defence was simply AWOL at times. If a goalkeeper is in great form he could still keep you ahead but it's better to have a viable defence. For all the Maguire hype he isn't a leader as much as Dawson is. The defence is virtually always weaker without Dawson, been the case ever since he arrived.

Once instance showed what difference a really good keeper with strong hands makes. Schmeichel turned a ball round the post that was like some that various of our keepers have let in or palmed weakly away. The whole game could have changed if that went in,

It was a good save, but Jakupovic made a better one.

Jak's the least of our problems.

And dont forget Fez, its his responsibility to stop the ball inside the fuLL back (except we don't have one on the right hand side) and to track the run of their left full back who scored the goal. Disgraceful JAK.. DISGRACEFUL.

Wasn't comparing Jak to Schmeichel in yesterday's game. The point is how many goals have we conceded either because the goalies, not just Jak,didn't get a strong enough hand to it or palmed it back and the opposition pounced on it first?

There was a camera shot, for the 2nd goal, from behind the player. It showcased his skill in changing direction, it highlighted two defenders drawn into his dance with no attempt to take the ball and stop his control. It also showed Jak tryingg to follow, through a maze of legs, his every move, trying to maintain a postion to respond. When the shot was released the camera clearly showed the bend on the ball flight, it showed Jak making the dive, but failing to make the safe. It was a bloody good goal, it was a decent attempt at saving it and it was bloody awful defending.

We have been unlucky with injuries to our first choice CBs; we don't have any full backs. Life's still a box of chocolates ...

I think you can ask that of any team.

I wouldn't call that a clanger, had it gone in then perhaps. But it didn't. I'm not sure what the outfield equivalent is, a pass nearly going astray?
Well you have very low expectations of a goalies job then. Sure you'll have similar criteria for Marshall? Its the equivalent of a defender under no pressure producing an air shot on an almost still ball and it hits his trailing leg and goes goalwards. He's incredibly lucky as it hits the woodwork.

I voted for him cos he's a City player and I'd like to see him win it. Doesn't matter if he actually deserves it. Most of the votes cast will be fans voting for their own clubs' player.

I'd vote for the person who I felt deserved it.

The goalkeeper's primary job is to stop the ball going into the goal. It didn't go into the goal. Outfield players make gaffes all the time yet they mostly go under the radar. I had higher expectations for Marshall, if anything, because he comes with a solid reputation, a decent fee and international experience. As it is, he doesn't look as good as Jakupovic. Jak seems to have a more positive effect on the back four as well, Marshall seemed a little quiet to me. Which for a Scot is worrying.

Racist.

Is it just me that thinks the first goal was the far worst mistake from jak, that was shocking for me
