Having witnessed Hazard down tools and storm down the tunnel, which was pretty efficient considering he was apparently injured, it made me give birth to this gem of an article.

We were in for this Kant....and he was eager to come, until the ££££ got waved in his direction by Chelsea. They got what they deserved <ok>

I'm sure many will remind me of how good a player he can be. However this alone is not good enough for me. I suppose it's due to the cloth from which I am cut. An old fashioned bloke who can never give credit to a twat.

I also recall when we needed a gaffer. The talk was of LVG being a cert. Then Moyes got sacked. At the time I thought '****ing Gollum looking ****er...why could you not stick around for a bit longer?'...then we may have got LVG. Having witnessed the bore fest that has become Man U....many a moment I have, where I shudder at the thought of that ****ing potato head running our club and how I wished it.

I am sure there are many more dodged bullets, these were just the two that I recall because they are both currently stinking up their respective abodes.

God forbid Berahino actually signs for us and has a good season..I can imagine him becoming a prized twat who's on field achievements would never delude me enough to give him credit.

Like I said, I'm a bit of an old fashioned chap, working class, old skooler, humble background. Therefore I judge people by their character before what they can do for my team on the pitch....

Would be interested to know which other bullets have been dodged by luck or by judgement.

None Yids please add your choices too...this thread is more about exposing spoilt, rich, abnoxious people, called footballers, that have overtaken the working man's game and pussified it!

Completely agree re Berahino. ..do not want the petulant twat anywhere near WHL...if he continues his current form he's a massive waste of money and if he does well he'll simply demand a move to his boyhood club of Man utd, /Chelsea/city etc.

Brendan Rogers is my choice though...can't imagine how embarrassed I'd be as a spurs fan watching his one arm in the air goal salute every time we scored...what a flacid cock that man is!

Don't know about you Colin but Sherwood used to make me cringe too when he did the Adebayor salute....And then I cringed even more when Chris Ramsey joined in.....shudder...anyway...best not de rail my own thread <laugh>

I'm with you on berahino, too. really hope he's not the player we go for in January. But after his strop and change of attitude, west brom will probably want to cut their losses now. Hopefully it won't be us who takes him off of their hands.
 
Balotelli is the biggest one of them all. Just after money, cars, and bitches.

He can't even be bothered to train half the time. An embarrassment to the great game.



Unfortunately we took that bullet straight to the head.
 
For me the ultimate dodged bullet has to be the time in the 1999-2000 season where we nearly signed John Hartson, only for him to fail the medical.

Another obvious one is how we were perpetually linked to Stewart Downing a few years back - but instead Liverpool spent £20m on him and showed us all why we should be thankful that we never got around to signing him. Similar can be said for Benteke: we could've signed him for £25m a couple of seasons back at Baldini's urging, but since then he's had numerous injuries...and Liverpool stumped up £32m on him.

Well said. For these reasons I would never have wanted Suarez for example. I know we weren't ever going for him, but if by chance he had been available I wouldn't want him. This is where I differ from fans that want success at any price. And there's lots of pundits who would of course say "you would have taken him in a heartbeat" and genuinely believe that I would, but that's where I also differ from the accepted wisdom. For example Drogba is regarded (by others) as one of the best premier players ever. For me you can't combine brilliant skills with "gamesmanship", it's all part of the same package. So when people like that are mentioned, it's always because of their skills and goals and the amount of time they spend feigning injury (or diving etc) doesn't count. Well to me it does count.

I disagree with the Berahino comments. As immature as the Twitter stuff is there's clearly something going on behind the scenes to have caused this.

The same things were being said about Sterling, how he was being petulant and wasn't as good as he thought. The pricetag is always going to be hard for him to live up to but he's currently enjoying playing in the same position each week for a team that will be up there and challenging for honours. 8 goals and 4 assists aint bad for under half a season either.

Berahino was kept against his will, valued at £25-30mill by his club and then dropped after a few bad games. I can understand why he's pissed off, to be honest. His poor form isn't because of some strop, he came back into the team and was as hard working as ever.

I think that the whole Berahino situation was caused by mixed messages at West Brom.
I got the impression that Pulis wanted to sell him and reinvest the money in the squad, as he was happy with his other options up top.
Peace wanted to get an astronomical fee for him, got pissed off with Levy and dug his heels in.
Getting told that you can go and then having the move fall through, then being left out of the side can't be much fun.

I like Berahino. We certainly could have done with him on Sunday!

Unfortunately, I doubt we'll get him. Peace is being arseaholic about the whole thing and reportedly has said that he won't even speak to Levy.

Whether the dickhead will swallow his pride if he doesn't get a rush of other potential buyers remains to be seen.
 
Charlie Adam is another one we were lucky to dodge. Considering the damage he does to our squad facing him twice a season, can you imaging the havoc he'd cause in training every day? We'd have been giving debuts to our U18 players within a month!

Come to think of it, has anyone noticed just how many of our dodged bullets end up at Anfield instead? Brendan Roders, Andy Carroll, Stewart Downing, Charlie Adam, Joe Cole, Craig Bellamy, Dejan Lovren, Nuri Sahin...what does their Transfer Committee do, exactly? Because by the looks of it, it seems all they do is grossly pay over the odds for players we were looking at and would have been better off without.
 
Berahino goes into the last year of his contract, in the Summer. WBA need to avoid that, because the player will be able to buy himself out of it, and will then be free to go where ever he likes.

The January window will be the last chance for WBA's twat of a manager to make any kind of money for the player.

I said all of this, last Summer, when the ****-storm was kicking up. I was wummed remorselessly by a certain Gooner mod, who "predicted" that Berahino would sign a new contract with WBA, in order to increase his price; and my view was that that would never happen, because it would enable WBA to hold Berahino to ransom, which is the very thing that caused the trouble in the first place! Well, Berahino has not signed a new contract, which ought to tell even the dimmest of us everything we need to know. <ok>
 
In terms of Berahino, Kvetch Brom are giving us another reason not to make another bid: rather than knuckle down and prove his worth, like Modric did when we refused to sell him to the Chavs, instead he's been a shadow of the player he was last season - which shows that he perhaps lacks the mentality to stick it out when things aren't going his way.
 
By the same token, though, he's young, and we have the best manager on the planet for developing youth.

If we can get him cheap enough, I think he is worth taking a risk on.
 
He's got a history of openly seeing his club as a stepping stone, has thrown his toys very publicly out of the pram and then has done nothing all season to warrant the interests of other teams. He's scored 22 league goals ever in his life and apparently reacts terribly to not having things all his own way.

I would imagine that for Pochettino to really be interested he would have to have some very serious information about his personality that negates and/or explains how he looks from the outside. The personalities in the squad are clearly very important for Poch and rightly so.

From Levy's point of view I'm sure he would list all the points above and then reluctantly offer WBA *maybe* 10m but will make it clear that WBA are being offered deal of the century.

That’s another reason teams coming up have been doing well. As more and more money and attention makes very young stars into bigger and bigger divas, teams made up mostly of honest lower league grafters do better and better. Pochettino has weeded out the others and left the ones with good characters and high levels of professionalism. That was what Gary Neville was enthusing about. Someone like Capoue is a good example. Not a bad guy, as far as I know, and quite a talented DM--until he loses interest, which seems to happen at regular intervals. Twice with Spurs he looked like a very good player for a while, then started strolling around.
