An Italian bloke in my old work team has recovered. He had visited Sicily and was ill when he got back to the UK but has not been tested. He had the bad head, aches, bad throat, very high fever for 2 days, then another few days where it was in the 37 to 38, felt very very weak, could not stand for a couple of days and is ok now.
He did not get the cough and he did not go to hospital.
I also heard about a friend of my wife's friend's husband who died in northern Italy aged 56 with no known health conditions.

About an hour ago I sent a text to a mate who lives on our estate (Holder House) and works at 'Sheels (Harton) hospital asking how he was, expecting the usual 'we're alright' stuff.

Unfortunately, he said that he, his wife and daughter were in 'lockdown' 'cos they've all got it . . . . he said 'think about the worst flu that you've ever had and double, or treble it, but we'll get better, thousands won't'

When I offered help with shopping, or anything that he might need, he said that his other daughter, and his sister & hubby, we're looking after them, so he shouldn't need me.

I grew up with him, and I feel awful 'cos he doesn't need my help, and I feel useless to him . . . . bloody hell :emoticon-0101-sadsm

It's bad over there isn't it.

An elderley Italian friend in Southern Italy, Uggiano la Chiesa, is fighting the virus and we feel helpless ....

... there'll be thousands in our position.

The worst is receiving a text and having to Google translate it, agony.

Don't feel awful, it's good that he doesn't need your help. All he needs is to know you're there if required and that you'll check in on him (not in person ofc). Hope you're keeping well, your friend is right they'll be better soon enough. **** though.

I heard yesterday that the bloke i mentioned who had it has passed away.
But he didn't actually have it, it was a heart attack.
Ffs the rumour mill rages on and is getting ridiculous.
