No, because Gayle will be in exactly the same boat, with bells on - i.e. he'll be wanting much more money than Roofe would ever think to ask for.to finance Dwight Gayle? Apparently with only a year left on his contract he (Roofe) is looking for more cash than Leeds are willing to pay, so do we sell him now in order to get Dwight Gayle?

Time to do the math. Let's say you get £5m for Roofe. Take away 20% VAT (£1m), Agent fees (£500k), and you get left with £3.5m. Add in a signing on fee (£1m+) Agent fees (£1m), and your 'profit' is down to £1.5 - or £30k pw, if you like. That doesn't cover the difference in wages. We'll be spending £10k pw extra - minimum, and my figures are very conservative. And that's just year 1, btw. It just does not make sense to gamble so much of the small cash pot we have on one person. We could make Roofe very happy & still save money for an alternative imo.Yes but the difference would be we'd get a fee for Roofe now rather than nothing in 12 months time......and Gayle would get more goals.

But Bielsa will make the right decision. I trust him with your balls in his hand.![]()

That's a no from me, I don't think we should be selling our top scorer again. That doesn't mean we shouldn't be looking for a 30+ a season striker though.to finance Dwight Gayle? Apparently with only a year left on his contract he (Roofe) is looking for more cash than Leeds are willing to pay, so do we sell him now in order to get Dwight Gayle?
Don't know if we should sell Roofe to finance Dwight Gayle, but YES we should sell him to finance a better strikerto finance Dwight Gayle? In an ideal world sell Bamford to help finance Gayle with a wealthy investor assistingDon't know if we should sell Roofe to finance Dwight Gayle, but YES we should sell him to finance a better striker![]()
My view from a sunbed in greece is clearer than others. Why sell roofe he wont fetch that high a price. Realistically it would be foolish to let him go to a champ club. So keep him and if he fecks off on a free next season after promotion who cares. Gayle is trouble and too big headed.
Bamford will come good and we owe money to boro no doubt.
Jack Clarke might have been another Byram a one season wonder. Prem clubs need to fill the home quota so lets make them bid for him. Pots of money floating about lets grab some and invest in real quality. I dont care if its loans but they have to be good.

No 3. They have the right attitude and treat Leeds as their parent club for the seasonI only ask two things if we go into the loan market.
1. They’re quality.
2. They’re fit.
