You did a great job mate, only teasing with yer. Do you do it as a volunteer or are you paid to look after the area?
Not much to do this time of year. I've finished for the winter digging out man made crap and it's too early to start on the balsam and knotweed.
Keeps me busy. This year's crap from a snaggy stretch of river. Its a bastard to dig out by hand. Luckily the farmer moves it from the river to where I can get it away in my car.

On average over the last 6 years I've dug out about 500 bags a year of man made waste from the river.
Keeps me busy.

yes
well sort of
the best bit was the fact it was Jerusalem and halfway down was a sentry box and obviously alerted by the noise we were making out popped an Israeli soldier with sub machine gun . He stared at us and my mate Dave said "we're ****ed if he says halt" as by that stage we were at a point where it had a momentum of its own . Luckily the squaddie decided we weren't palestinian terrorists / guerrillas / freedom fighters and waved us through :emoticon-0184-tmi:
Lol I had vision of you being pissed telling him to push you down a big load of stairs goin " nah it's OK I can do it dave lets fukin go! " <laugh>

It's a gabion (metal cage filled with stone) that has broken up over the years, metal spikes sticking out all over the place. I just brought it up to the level of the top of the gabion. I did put a concrete block in as a step up but I think it needs building up more. Gonna do that tomorrow.

Councils do not like having their attempts at safety improved on by the public

Whenever it is shown to be an improvement they retrospectively deny planning permission and force the culprit to pay to have it returned to its previous state using one of their overpaid contractors to do the work involving Health and Safety measures that will cost 10 times more than the actual work itself

I worked for Local Government for 14 years

A good example was in London where a paving slab was loose, one man with a bucket of sand doing the repair. one man supervising, two men acting as lookouts and another man ensure all H and S rules were complied with

Aye, I don't mess with public footpaths. This is on private land and the path is used by fishermen only and the odd dog walker that shouldn't be down there. I know the guys who run the fishing club and they're happy for me to do this sort of stuff.

back then didn't need one i just seemed to bounce probably due to at one stage being at least semi pissed not long after leaving home .
could do with one now as the slightest thing seems to do proper damage .
Perhaps your stair riding days are over mate <laugh>

I think as you get older naturally you bruise easier and they stay longer anyway.

My birds terrible for getting bruises easy even when I use the pillow <laugh>
