Good points Sparks.
Apart from the Wendies where they had done their homework (what happened to Monk?) and first half at QPR, where we were very runny dog sh1te, on both occasions, other games have been lost or drawn based on single mistakes/events, e.g. the Wurzels.
Clearly mistakes need to be cut out but you can't guarantee that all the time. Our real problem is the inability to score more than the opposition.
There is no doubt that a fit Tomlin has been greatly missed, not only for his knack of scoring vital goals, some worldies and some tap ins., but also creating space and chances for others.
Wilson is a very good young player and we would be right in the soft and smellies without him but he does not have Tomlin's skill of getting into unusual spaces and being able to wrong foot defenders over half a yard. The two of them in tandem could create havoc and many more chances for Moore, actually facing goal, not the wrong way.
The rest of midfield has been slow and lacking creativity and has missed Bacuna's drive and energy. Ralls gets further forward and is more of a threat with Bacuna mopping up behind him.
Apart from the odd good performance from Hoilett our wingers have disappointed although Murphy's cameo on Saturday shows he can perform if in the right state of mind.
That brings us back to our biggest error, no traditional right back cover. That has to be addressed urgently in January.
I have said before that I don't think Moore is all that and he certainly can't do what he is paid for with his back to goal. He has also failed to notch on a few occasions with clear headed chances in front of goal. But if we look at his goals for Wales and us last week, there is a striker there given the ball in the right place and with improved confidence.
Finally, tactics. We mentioned this after Saturday's draw. Does Harris have the confidence to go for games from the start? Has he bred a tension within the team which makes them reserved in their play until they have no option but to go for it? Look what happened at QPR where we were worth a draw after a shocking first half.
More questions than answers I'm afraid and only Harris, or someone else can resolve that.
The next 3 games gives us chances to claw back some of the deficit - or see us up to our knees in crap rather than our ankles. This season's performances indicate the outcome will be somewhere in between.
