There may be better records available and if you are including things like that and professionalism, then yeah he probably isn't the greatest. On pure talent however, I've never witnessed anything like him. People talk about winning games on your own. He did this whenever he felt like it, and basically single handedly delivered a world cup to his country.

Absolute arsehole for 86 of course, and seemed to be a complete bell end who never got over not being the centre of attention when his career ended.

As Chaos points out, characters like him are dying breed now.

I’ve not seen pele or best play. But I have seen maradona. He was a “footballer”. No tactics needed I bet the managers just said right lads..... Diego you go and have a cuppa..... shhh he’s left, right we all know he’s ****ed from last night, so just everyone make sure that when we get past the half way line just give it to him and shout “gerup lad”!!!!
