If he was on a walking holiday it's because he hadn't the cash to buy a car - they don't come on the market for a £1
Do I detect a tad of negativity towards are prospective leader Mr Peter Ridsdale...........ex Leeds.......ex Barnsley........Ex Cardiff. I still think at present that without him we wouldn't be playing Shrewsbury today............no one else came foreward earlier this year to sought the mess out.........even if he has got his mind on making a few quid eventually at the end of the day..............as long as Argyle are up and running still one year from now........I'd go along with that. It's a game of survival,we might not like the way it happens ......but it is happening..........and if we do get stuffed at Shrewsbury.....so be it........the end result is more important, PAFC's survival as a football club to fight another day is the main goal this season.
Agree plymborn. My only concern is all the secrecy. Whoever it ends up with they will want to make some money. That is the nature of business. We are not fortunate enough to have a super rich fan who loves argyle. Survival is the key. We will have our day sometimes and be embarrassed other days, but just let those days exist !!
Spot on Plymborn. We may not like parts of the deal [including me] but it's what we've got and it offers the safest route back to league football - by far. Hoping for it to collapse and to start all over again is a bit like winning £1m in a casino and then turning back from the exit to put it all on one more spin of the wheel.
Pompey Green..........I told you who was involved on another thread......(REVEALED 29/7/11).......Donald Duck.........Mickey Mouse.........Minnie Mouse.........Pluto...........Tigger.........and Andy Pandy.........probably no more ficticious than Heinous Heaneys Irish (please come out of the woodwork) Phantoms.
I wish I shared your confidence, Plymborn. There is something about the current deal that really concerns me. I've seen a number of scams and attempted scams in my time and they all have one thing in common - the victim really wants to believe in what is being offered, either from greed or desperation. We are certainly in the desperate category. I hope I'm wrong but the BIL deal has a remarkable aroma of stale kippers to me... Notdistant, I do think that you are amazingly optimistic. This deal is the safest option? God spare us from anything risky then!
Get ready for your holiday Western, hopefully we will still be around when you get back lol .... as I said last night have a good one
It's a simple matter of mathematics Waesternmac, not optimism. I actually dislike Ridsdale intensely. However, transactions like these are very complex and may collapse at any one of a thousand steps in the process. We appear to have 990 steps behind us without mishap: a new bidder would be starting from Step 1, which would increase the risk of the club folding to a massive extent. I am optimistic in that IF the club can get back to playing football and get its finances stabilised over a couple of years, then normal service can be resumed, such as normality is a concept recognised in football. In that scenario, who owns the ground is neither here nor there and I couldn't care less as long as the club survives.
I see Paul Buttivant hasn't gone away,Still making overtures and making it known that he is still around. (NEWSNOW website).
