Right, give this some thought Lads and Lasses but you’ve got to pick 8 records that you would take to a Desert Island.
It’s not as easy as it sounds, but after much deliberation here’s my choice

Led Zeppelin - Ramble On
The Doors - LA Woman
The Stones - Sympathy for the Devil
The Who - - Won’t get Fooled Again
The Faces/ Rod Stewart - Every picture tells a Story
Sex Pistols - Pretty Vacant
The Beatles- Let it Be
The Cure - In Between Days

Over to you

The Smiths - I know it's over
Talking Heads - Life During Wartime
Meat Loaf - Dead Ringer for Love
ELO - Mr. Blue Sky
Adele - Someone like you
Stones - Honkey Tonk Woman
Sex Pistols - Anarchy in the UK
Clash - I fought the Law

Might change when I'm in a different mood - bloody hard to pick 8 !

I take you mean 8 songs, not 8 albums?

8 songs I would take ( this week).

Scorpions - Fly to the Rainbow (Tokyo Tapes live version)
Rush - 2112
Black Sabbath - Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
AC/DC - Shot Down in Flames
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Freebird
Roy Orbison - It's Over
Boomtown Rats - (I Never Loved) Eva Braun
Amy Macdonald - Footballer's Wife

Christ, where to begin!

1. Book of Brilliant Things - Simple Minds
2. George Harrison - Wah Wah
3. Duel - Propaganda
4. Psycho Killer - Talking Heads
5. I Don't See Them - Paul Heaton
6. Bad - U2
7. Glory Days - Bruce Springsteen
8. God's Gonna Cut You Down - Johnny Cash

  1. Molly's chambers - Kings Of Leon.
  2. White Horse - Chris Stapleton.
  3. Enter Sandman - Metallica.
  4. Duality - Slipknot.
  5. Monsters - James Blunt.
  6. Pencil full of lead - Paolo Nutini.
  7. I need never get old - Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats.
  8. Hard To Handle - Black Crowes.
That's my list today but will probably change tomorrow <party>

Ricochet, Part 2 (Tangerine Dream)
Requiem, Mozart
Mercy mercy me, Marvin Gaye
Purple Rain, Prince
Many rivers to cross, Jimmy Cliff
Welcome Home, Metallica
Structures from Silence, Steve Roach
My Death, Bowie

Almost impossible. Tried to reach across genres.

Moonage Daydream - Bowie
Atmosphere - Joy Division
Tomorrow Never Knows - Beatles
The Gael - Dougie MacLean
Ecstasy of Gold - Ennio Morricone
Shake it out - Florence and the Machine
The man who sold the world - Nirvana
Shine a light - Stones

Honourable mentioned to Wake Up by Arcade Fire.

Mozart's requiem is a ****ing fantastic cheat answer. Isn't it about 70 minutes long?

Bloody hell that was hard. If I started again now I would have a completely different eight.

Deliberately avoiding Dylan and in no particular order:

  1. The Fields of Athenry - Paddy Reilly
  2. The Weight – The Band
  3. Hotel California – The Eagles
  4. Deportee – Woody Guthrie
  5. No Man's Land - Eric Bogle
  6. Die Like A Rich Boy - Frightened Rabbit
  7. Better Together - Jack Johnson
  8. Better Man – Paolo Nutini

Last edited:
1 - Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge on Seattle - Nirvana
2 - Climbatize - Prodigy
3 - Be Quiet and Drive - Deftones
4 - Lovely Day - Bill Withers
5 - Moving - Supergrass
6 - Bulls On Parade - Rage Against The Machine
7 - Do I Do - Stevie Wonder
8 - What A Fool Believes - Doobie Brothers

Could've continued the list to at least 200 before getting bored...
