Just seen the hightlights and 1 bit of defending from Liam Moore really impressed me where Freeman crosses the ball and Schmeichel saves it and Moore smashes it clear. And then next Paul Coutts lines up a shot and out of nowhere Liam Moore throws his body on the line and blocks it

It seems as if Pearsons gone with the experienced/young combination again.
Don't get me wrong, we have never been a side that leaks goals left right and centre, but when we were going strong last season, Moore was playing, so hopefully he does stay with us the whole season this year.
Nothing against Keane either, who did just as good a job (lack of goals scored cost us in the second half of the season imo)
I'd worry about both Schlupp and Moore in our team on a regular basis, I think we'd be a little fragile on the left-hand side. But they've both performed well in their positions (notably not preferred either!) and I'm pleased youth's being given a chance.
Seven points from our opening 3 games is a very good return IMO. Every away game in this league is tough, and to win the first two away games of the season (for the first time in our history...) is a great achievment, especially considering the negativity around the coming season.

When we were playing well at the start of last season and losing games like Charlton, Wolves and BBrn, this season we aren't playing exceptionally well (apart from at the back) but still scraping the wins together. Its a funny old game.
I'd rather win ugly than lose playing well, at the end of the day its all about the 3 points.
... to a point ... but it's not sustainable - ultimately I'd rather play like Swansea did against Man United and lose ... it's not just winning that is bringing the fans back down there, it is the style of play and the individual flair of players like Michu, Bony and Hernandez... whilst we continue to 'win ugly' we will also continue to play to a stadium with 10,000 empty seats rather than in a cauldron that is rocking.

I understand what you are saying and to some extent it's true ... but, in their promotion season Swansea played the best football I saw in the Championship that year ... and it was therefore far easier to build on that when they did go up ...

Would you be happy reaching the Premiership, and staying there in the same manner as Stoke?
I wouldn't, if I'm going to travel home and away, I at least want to see us play decent football.
One of my favourite ever away games was a loss(3-2 away at Sheff United).
The problem with the question Jack is that none of us has really seen enough of Stoke to pass 'judgement' on their style of play ... a few of their fans that I have spoken with seem to think that they get an unfair press and play far more 'football' than they are given credit for ...
But the question deserves an attempt at an answer at the very least, so I'll give it my best shot...
When I was a young man me and my equally carefree mates were quite prepared to "follow the City, over land and sea"... often passing over the fact that we were crap ... but paying a couple of quid to stand in the spion kop meant that it ws still very much 'value for money' entertainment.
Now I'm an older man and I think about it far more and am far more analytical and, indeed, critical - football, whilst sometimes still attaining semi-religious proportionakity is, when stripped down, merely a form of 'entertainment' (or at least it should be). As such, I tend to think about what made me fall in love with the game; goals, great players, attacking football, skillful tackling, wonderful passing, ball skills.
Now if I'm not getting that, and if, wanting to take my family it's going to cost me over £100 per match I'm probably not going to be prepared to pay that to watch clueless, long ball mediocity to be fair - not when there are other enjoyments in life on which to spend my hard earned cash - or, at least I'll become very very selective about the matches I attend and / or would probably leave the family at home and just 'suffer' for my affliction by myself with my cousins who still live in Leicester etc and have been supporting the club as long as me...
I've watched a fair few Stoke matches as a couple of my housemates supported them, and I can say they were all dire. I couldn't watch that week after week, although of course it is different when it's your team. I did attempt the argument with them that football is an entertainment, they were having none of it. But more and more teams are going up and playing nice football, which is refreshing and will hopefully spell an end to the really ugly teams in the PL.

I admire Stoke's 'never say die' attitude and the fact they will do anything to get a win.
They're have a sunday league side's attitude but obviously better technically.

Definitely yes. Heroes are produced through sheer grit and determination. Apart from that, if you can stabalise over a few years like Stoke have done, the financial rewards are amazing. That grit and determination can produce the funds to allow, over a period of time, a team that can be built which will provide entertaining football. As an aside, I always enjoyed watching Stoke play Arsenal and putting them under enormous pressure with their hoof ball and long throws. CANT DENY THAT THE ATMOSPHERE AT STOKE IS A LOT BETTER THAN AT THE KP. Obviously their fans have enjoyed their success and stability.
Id rather stay in the Premier League fighting for points than go down pretty.
Like Barnwell says, if you stay in this league for a few years, the financial side would be fantastic.
If we got to this point, the higher ups may want to progress with a new manager, one that plays fancier football, the next Laudrup if you like, but until you are settled in the prem, you aren't going to attract this kind of manager.
