Go for a walk and get some fresh air

And get a hobby other than football which you don't even enjoy

Good advice.

I've suffered from depression since I was a teenager (over 40 years). The current best practice is Activation Therapy, or getting out of bed/your chair and doing something active. Some medication might also be needed, so a walk to your GP would be a good idea.

If you're worried about harming yourself, tell a medical professional immediately. Good luck.

Get an outdoor hobby, like bike riding or horse riding, something that keeps you occupied and out and about.
Maybe, as goofy as it sounds, take up Bonsai trimming.
It is apparently a very good stress reliever, and as you work in a garden centre, it might do good for your career too.

So was speaking with an old friend over the weekend and he reckons that I've got some form of depression as I don't care about anything. I think he is being a **** and doesn't know what he is talking about but I looked at the symptoms and I tick a few of the boxes, although it says something like "lose interest in things you used to enjoy" which doesn't really fit me. I don't feel depressed or sad or anything, but I have always felt like this and have the emotional range of a tin of spam so I am not sure if that is linked.

Can't really be bothered to go GP about it as I don't see it as a problem really so thought I would ask on here to see if anyone had any advice

Do you often think most people are below you, or find everything that everyone does to be extremely irritating?
Do you want to kill people when you overhear them talking about what happened last night on TOWIE or X-Factor?
Did you keep dry eyes watching the green mile?
Are you extremely pessimistic about everything, "Whats the point of that? I dont understand why he would do that!" etc and do you overthink everything to the point where you talk yourself out of any kind of remedial action?

If the answer to all, or most, of these was a yes, then you may be clinically depressed.
Avoid Alcohol and other downers like Cannabis, get some St John's Wort and book a GP appointment.

I know this is some sort of joke quiz but whatever

No to the first point, I just don't care what other people are doing unless it effects me
TOWIE - doesn't everyone?
Never seen Green Mile, don't think I've ever cried at a film though
Yes to the pessimism, no to the overthinking. I barely think at all and have very little/no remorse for how my actions effect anyone

I just think I am a **** really, rather than any kind of medical condition

I'm not a healthcare professional but have seen a fair bit of mental health issues over the years. How was your childhood?

Mine was not great and you sound like 2 of my siblings. They're not depressed just devoid of emotion.

I'm similar to you and don't feel that it's depression, I just want to do what I want and don't really care about other peoples opinions. I look after my family but outside of that the whole world can go **** itself, it's full of morons why should I worry about it?

Cannabis is what I reach for when I'm suicidal. It works a treat. I wish I'd learnt that earlier. I've stopped smoking it daily and now it's as and when required.

Won't have that effect on everyone though, and could make it worse.

I'd argue that it would work on the vast majority. I'm not talking about smoking it constantly which leads to lethargy, which in turn can snowball into depression. I'm talking about using it as an aid at the point of seriously feeling suicidal.

It's a relaxer. It calms the mind down. I'd have coppers carrying joints when turning up to somebody threatening suicide. I doubt they'd follow through with it once they were halfway through their doobie.
