An independent Scotland would sink like a lead balloon if it had big government. Would be interesting to see Scotland finance it's own defense...tossing the caber at an enemy may prove a tough task.

Last time I looked we've got all the nukes.

How do you want them back? Pay us a **** load of dosh to have them removed from our country? Or, we can fire them at ye's so ye's get them back real quick.

I hope this information doesn't get to too many Scots any time soon <laugh>

We also have two brand spanking new Aircraft carriers currently being built in Govan and Rosyth .

Yees can whistle fur them too anymare of yer pish .

Micks theory is bullshit but it isn't new to me.

If the veil of ignorance concept wasn't new to you, your first argument would not have been that you were intelligent enough not to be in the losing 20% <whistle>

Anyway I can think of a few ways to pull it apart myself.

What harm is there running two systems...nhs and private healthcare?

I have fully comprehensive pmi...Will use it when I need that gastric band but nhs a+e/gp etc for common issues - right now sinus infection.

Essentially it's the government taking business off independent industries.

The sin that is "Crony protectionism" is basically the government interfering in the market to use public money in order to keep a failing business/industry from going bust. It's worse that if it where to be a local baker or gym owner then the government wouldn't care. But yet Cameron and his cronies couldn't let the banks take the heat for their own failings and if it meant destroying the value of the pound then at least give them a interest free loan. If not let the sub-par business fall to be replaced by a more efficient alternative.

At least Thatcher had the fortitude to allow the mining industry to fall on it's own sword and offer no bailout.

Nowt wrong with that at all Pud. In fact i have the same .You would think the fellow that started this thread and thinks NHS privatisation would be a good thing would have some form of private health insurance .

But no .

Talk is a lot cheaper than BUPA though .

Before I begin, this isn't a Left vs Right thread but a thread of honest opinion on the state of the NHS.

My honest opinion on our National Health system is that it's doing the inevitable and failing.

A health project without an insurance policy can be disastrous to our economy (which is basically a business belonging to the country.)

The NHS harnesses the potential of private health companies such as AXA & Bupa.

Government interference in our market (including Health), is completely abhorrent.

Discuss...

You clearly have so little understanding of the issue you are attempting to debate there really is no point in discussing it.

Why would that dead **** Thatcher bail out the mining industry when it was she who orchestrated its destruction out of revenge?
