Landon Donovan is a Yank and lives in USA, is a States international and is playing in his country's league, that is how it should be. Rangers have money because Ibrox is sold out for the season, simple.

It's a bit weird isn't it? Then again, if it is his boyhood dream club (don't know if it is) and he feels there would never be the chance to play for them if they were still inthe Scottish Prem, then I suppose it is a way of looking at it.

Limited money though. 258 quid for a season ticket is hardly going to bring in a whole lot. Templeton also guaranteed no European football for next four seasons either. Some agent to have if thats the best deal he could negotiate
The season ticket money at Ibrox is an interesting one though. Wasn't that money all squirreled away and lost from the newco?

The thing to remember is that Glasgow Rangers FC have been liquidated, they are no longer operating. The Rangers Football Club are a new football business and have no debts and have increased turnover from season ticket sales, merchandise sales, television rights and ticket sales.
Effectively everything Glasgow Rangers achieved has ended and the new club have no history, except a couple of wins and draws.
The Ticketus deal ended in June 2012:
Rangers administrators have written to Ticketus to terminate a £25m season ticket deal, according to prospective owner Charles Green.
Duff and Phelps informed the London firm of their move to tear up the agreement after a court hearing earlier this year found that Ticketus did not own Ibrox season tickets.
Mr Green said in a statement on the club website on Friday that supporters could now "take heart" from the fact that the Ticketus deal would be terminated.
The London firm said on Friday it believed the tearing up of the contract and it becoming a creditor of Rangers was now "a formality".
So in plain english boab, all the money for the 2012-13 season tickets sold prior to the collapse has gone to the newco?
They cancelled all direct debit payments to ensure the club got 100% of the cash given to them by supporters. All previous payments remained at the club, as the creditors didn't accept a deal and ended up with nothing, as the club liquidated.
It should be stated that I personally know of 2 people who gave credit to Glasgow Rangers FC and due to the issues with the club, have taken a massive hit financially and have had to sack employees. To find out that The Rangers FC are now paying £7000 a week to some players in Scottish Division 3 and offered a transfer fee of £500,000 to Hearts for Templeton, makes me very very angry.

The money was frozen by the administrators and Charles Green (new owner) took legal action to get it back from the administrators. The administrators are being investigated into the way they managed the Glasgow Rangers FC situation and their closeness to the previous owner Craig Whyte.
The company was formed on 29 May 2012 as a means for Charles Green to acquire the assets from The Rangers Football Club plc (subsequently renamed RFC 2012 plc), should it go into liquidation. Green agreed a deal with the administrators of Rangers to purchase its assets for a £5.5million fee if the projected CVA proposal was to fail. The CVA proposal was formally rejected on 14 June 2012, hours later Green completed the purchase of the assets and various contracts for Sevco 5088 Ltd. The company acquired Ibrox Stadium and Murray Park on 14 June 2012 after the rejection of a proposed CVA meant that The Rangers Football Club plc would enter liquidation. The properties were purchased for £5.5million along with various other assets and other smaller assets. The assets were then transferred to a company called Sevco Scotland Ltd which changed its name to 'The Rangers Football Club Ltd' at the end of July, 2012.
I too feel disgusted at the two people you know being shafted by rangers. Far too much of this going round at present. I run a small company I set up 28 years ago but am meticulous about who I give credit to. Personally I don't believe anyone should give any football club credit given the number of liquidations or administrations or whatever you like to call them
It's not sold out, Billy. 2 home league games so far. Crowds of 49k & 46k. I suspect the numbers may diminish considerably, but only time will tell. Tickets prices are Adults £16, Concessions £12, Kids (and there's a lot!) £5. When you stack up the numbers, they're pulling in less than we are! But then, that's another story, as we all know well.
Haven't we heard the same thing from Leeds fans stating that players should stay with us, while the chairman fiddled and Elland Road burned, instead of going to Prem teams?

Exactly, was going to say exactly the same thing. Yet more hypocrisy from many it seems.
EDIT: Not meaning to single out people on here, talking in general. Although it seems for many people, the only reason someone would leave Leeds for the PL is money, and yet that's also the only reason someone would drop from Hearts to play for Rangers, would like to know what makes people think each situation so different.
Suppose it's understandable moving up to the Premiership for more money but dropping several divisions is comical, farcical or call it whatever you like

You could use him as a reference if he drops out of the MLS to play in the USA 4th division though
