Well now you can see from the accounts that we spent almost everything that came in last year. That's equilibrium. We could spend more but we won't be able to sustain it - don't let's kid ourselves that promotion will lead to new riches. It won't. The TV money's not much more in League 1 and the evidence of other clubs shows that gates don't increase either, not unless you run straight up to the Championship.
Players on the cheap? Do you really think the likes of Wright, Ainsworth, Wroe, Richards, Sharps, Jacobson, Gornell, Morgan etc are cheap for League 2? Get real. League 2's about size of contracts, not transfer fees, and I don't think we're so attractive that these players choose us over other clubs that would pay more.
Sure the idea is to get as high as you can, but not like a rocket on bonfire night.
Why you think we've not been successful in the loan market beats me. We've got perhaps the best young right back currently playing in the lower leagues (Hurst) and a useful midfielder (Wildig). You must be thinking of Wallace, because of his suspension/illness/injury etc. Fair enough but it seems like he's staying on so let's give him the chance to prove himself. Everton midfielders usually have a good pedigree.
That glass is half full if you look at it closely.
