We havent had a 20 goal a season striker since Diego Costa left 2 years ago, and we have finished in top 6 twice.
As for our wide players, Pedro is good, and Pulisic, we havent seen anywhere near enough of him to judge.

Thats true but we had hazard lol.

Rlc showed he could step up and provide creativity and goal threat. Pedro is decent but flutters in and out.

Im Im worried more about our defence. Hopefully our midfield can shield them

Same, I think we have plenty of goals in us, but our defence I am less certain about.
Zouma seems to have improved, maybe he can strike up a partnership with Rudiger.

I think we’ll be pleasantly surprised this season. We won’t win anything that’s for sure but I think we’ll see the same grit and unity that Jose brought to the club.
We may not have anything world class in the defensive ranks but the potential to be is there. Everyone complained about not giving the kids game time, well now they have it in spades. The season starts tomorrow and there is a long old way to go.

Guess it will come out in the wash but i heard he was 4th choice (final preseason was zouma and christensen) and rudi is our first choice.

I imagine he may have kicked off but more lamps probably thought he didnt want the aggro especially since tomori played under frank and did well presumably (derbys player of the year i saw someone post) so just got rid.

Especially since we must be on our final chances with giving zouma and christensen proper chances before they phone it in and go to other clubs.

I'm bricking it this season though i have a bad feeling about us
yeah Tomori was Derbys player of the year playing as RCB . Zouma had a good season at Everton so think you will be OK at CB but the lack of a proven PL goalscorer upfront looks your biggest weakness .

That’s a fair point, although we have Hazard in that period. I probably am doing Pedro a bit of a disservice to be fair.

I’m looking forward to watching us that’s for sure. We seem a bit more “Chelsea” than previous seasons. More of a connection between the team and fans, which I’m sure will help us. I just think we have a bit of an average squad that’s all.

We do, we certainly aint winning no league title, but I am intrigued to see what a Lamps led Youthful Chelsea side can do. Maybe they will surprise us.
Of course Tammy Abraham stepping up and being awesome for us this season would be great

To many negatives on here, and some from those that wanted a new approach, well we finally got it, although it was somewhat forced upon us. "You don't win anything with kids". Yeah....Right.

Since i first started following Chelsea's fortunes 49 years ago i have never gone into a season with so much trepidation but yet at the same time excitement. We will not win anything this season but if we can compete and stay in the top 6 that will do me for now. Hopefully when the transfer ban is over and Roman has the same enthusiam we can kick on. I remember in the 70's worrying about the bottom 6 and relegation !!!

Exactly.

Just a shame we start season with RLC and CHO out.

RLC will always be a sicknote sadly

I have noticed this too.
I have been crying out for a change in approach for a few years now, and I am glad we got it, like you said, even if it was forced on us.
I want to see what these kids can do given the chance, and I am fully prepared for a trophyless couple of seasons and a drop out of the top 4.
Its not like we are starved of trophies, is it?

I have been wondering for years what would happen if we reeled in the spending and relied more on youth, and now I am finally going to get my answer, for better or worse.....and I am excited about it, even if we do **** this season, it'll be a journey, and a change from the norm

Three of our best kids are injured though.

As is Rudi

They'll be back soon enough, we have enough cover in those positions with the senior players, we still have a decent squad,
But as far as youngsters. there is also Tomori, Mount and Abraham.
All have impressed in the Championship and I want to see if they can make the step up

I'm more than happy to use some youth if i think the youth is good enough. Its not just about throwing the youth in. Im more than happy to give the likes of mount, rlc, hudson, ampadu, christensen, chances

Its more about chucking in half a team of untried players which doesnt work at the best of times for top level professionals.

Tbh my negativity was more on using zouma who i dont really rate alongside the inconsistent christensen.

I just hope the fans dont jump on franks back should we not do very well this season
