Does it make you want to stand as trade union rep again?

Nope.... It's every man for themselves now!

The referendum was the first time in ten years I have cared about anything to do with politics......
They are all ****s and all you can do is mitigate against the damage their stupidness causes you.

Besides now we are out it won't ever rain again and children will no longer cry.

Very good.<applause>
He will be busy now. Train only gets busy in the last two miles ( Vauxhall to Waterloo) and there ain't enough time to check tickets. Jobs fecked anyway... Ticket operated barriers and driver only trains are working well at southern trains.
Now we ain't in the EU his redundo terms will not be protected. But he will be ok cos all those British bosses won't be only offering zero hours minimum wage contracts (irony).

I'm not getting into the DOO debate about it now as it's too complex but suffice to say that you can't put a price on passenger safety, security or the simple reassuring knowledge of a second go to person, not least as we're trained and continually assessed in 35 different elements ranging from protection of the line to safeguarding passengers. <ok>

SWT will have driver only trains before you see Hampshire.
If your colleagues at southern roll over and then it's your turn. Better start chipping into southern a strike fund you can't afford them to lose.

They're being downgraded officially from August when Southern say it kicks in from, the argument is over whether there's a second train crew member on board, it's over their job description. <ok>

Shame the shareholders of these franchised rail companies don't give a **** about any of that.....
With a 10 year franchise none of them take a long term view.

On a serious note, it's where the rosters send you on the routes that you're signed off on. I only go as far afield as Guilford as I'm non-commercial, commercial guards go anywhere but depends on what depot as certain depots only sign certain routes.

I was signed off on Basingstoke for commercial cover during training back in 2014 but haven't had a turn involving Basingstoke yet, although after 6 months of not doing it I'd need a refresher as that's the safety criteria. <ok>

You could have popped in at Bucks for a coffee!

Need to stop pissing about and go all out and the rest of you need to do the same. This comes in and all local and comuter trains go the same way. I can picture you pushing the tea trolley.

Only if I apply to Rail Gourmet. <laugh>

Southern's CEO has released propaganda statements in the Metro & Evening Standard the day before every strike but changed the wording in the last one, he previously said that nobody would be losing their job but just simply downgraded with all door control responsibility passing to the driver.

The last statement he repeated that but also added that nobody would suffer a pay cut, so my take on that is that I'd want to see the contract first before I signed as you couldn't trust him to back it up, it could be bullshit to try to end the strike.

If it's true then you couldn't blame guards for thinking **** it and let the driver do it, just doing what we do now but without any safety critical stuff to worry about for the same money, but I find that very hard to believe given that it's all about saving money. <doh>

Do you think that if there was another referenum today that the result would be different?

No applying required..... Suitable alternative employment, and regrade the job and cut pay at 90 days notice.
Leaves staff with a choice of accepting or walking away with nada.

That's where a Tory government gets the working man.
