Very good. He will be busy now. Train only gets busy in the last two miles ( Vauxhall to Waterloo) and there ain't enough time to check tickets. Jobs fecked anyway... Ticket operated barriers and driver only trains are working well at southern trains. Now we ain't in the EU his redundo terms will not be protected. But he will be ok cos all those British bosses won't be only offering zero hours minimum wage contracts (irony).
On a serious note, it's where the rosters send you on the routes that you're signed off on. I only go as far afield as Guilford as I'm non-commercial, commercial guards go anywhere but depends on what depot as certain depots only sign certain routes. I was signed off on Basingstoke for commercial cover during training back in 2014 but haven't had a turn involving Basingstoke yet, although after 6 months of not doing it I'd need a refresher as that's the safety criteria.
SWT will have driver only trains before you see Hampshire. If your colleagues at southern roll over and then it's your turn. Better start chipping into southern a strike fund you can't afford them to lose.
