It's a bit of strange feeling for me. My Mum was a massive fan and I grew up to hearing him whilst my mum happily boogied round the house whilst cleaning and going about her chores and whilst the family and friends visited. It's a bit odd as I feel like a bit of my memory from childhood has passed away. Sad to see him go, was always different and had bucket loads of charisma and was very dynamic. Something that is missing from todays politically correct world where everyone has a pigeon hole.
A true icon who was never really my cuppa but some songs will resonate through the ages and I'm sure he will be greatly missed by all his fans RIP
To many growing up in the 1970s this is our Elvis moment. In Ten years time people will be wondering where they were the day the music and David Bowie died. RIP
I know the moment has long passed, but BBC iplayer have 3 Bowie programs , one of which ends in a few days. Repeats, mostly, but an incredibly in-depth look at the guy/artist/legend through many different peoples eyes, inc band members, producers, music critics... Anyhow: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/group/p03f672p
He first changed his name to David Jay after Peter Jay and the Jaywalkers who were good friends. They were from Norwich City college, and i believe Peter is big at Yarmouth pier nowadays.
