Not at all surprised to see that it's Meite who's looked a bit of a donkey whenever I've seen him, loves a wild shot from 30 yards he does.

Scarlett might be a bit of a sleeper though, I think we were linked with him in the past but his record looks average at best, this graph suggests he has something about him.

He’s been linked here a few times, most recently this summer…

Dane Scarlett once went on to get 100 caps for England in a FM game I played. And for that reason I’ve always thought he’ll end up great. Looks like he’s had the wrong loan moves so far to me.

Only played 90 minutes once for Oxford so far this season. Constantly in and out of the side

A one that @Smug in Boots will be revelling in knowing his opinions on xG.. and it’s hard to argue with to be fair!

Spurs beat United 4-3 midweek.

Spurs xG was 0.67 :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Interesting <laugh>

To be honest I don't have the slightest problem with any kind of stats, they're harmless and just a bit of fun.

My only issue is when they're used in a 'These are the stats so the club should do X' kind of way.

Or when stats are used to try to sway our opinion of a particular player.

Stats don't exist for courage, leadership or inspiration ...

... which can be 10x the value of distance ran, headers won or passes made.

Makes interesting reading that.

The 73.1% save percentage is precisely why some premier league teams have been watching him, everyone knows his distribution is his biggest flaw but shot stopping he is very, very good. Interesting to see crosses stopped is pretty similar to the others too.

I found it interesting that the 3 championship keepers had the 3 highest save percentages. I guess what we can summise from that is that premier league players are better at shooting?

Aye possibly, although I still wouldn't swap Patto for Onana :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Good to see our two strikers in the top right quadrant. If we could get one of them to Haji Wright levels of shot volume and shot quality we'd be laughing.

This is without being a particularly creative team as well.

Great graph that.

That Norman Bassette is a bit of a headless chicken but look at that shot quality!! Suggests that once he becomes more refined he could really become a top striker.

Interesting to see the players in the top left. They're broadly ones that occasionally score worldies that perhaps puts them into a false perception of being great shooters. Players like Whattaker, Hamer and Azaz. I guess if you shoot enough occasionally you'll score a worldy.

On all that though, is the "Shot Quality" also influenced by how much of a "poacher" they are? It seems that shot quality is defined by xG, and obviously a higher xG is often because they're shooting within the penalty area and 6 yard box. Perhaps that massively affects the players like Hamer and Twine who mostly shoot from 30 yards?

A lot of the poacher types will be in the middle right to bottom right, the likes of Josh Maja, Yates and Langstaff.

A lot of it is dependent on the individual attackers team setup. It's hard to look at strikers through data because they are so reliant on service being provided to them

Natural positioning on the pitch as well, midfielders are going to take worse shots because they will get the ball further away from the goal

Its really interesting.

Based purely off this data, if we lost both Isidor and Mayenda for any hypothetical reason and had a complete blank canvas and unlimited budget in terms of who we could sign, who would you be wanting us to look at bringing in?

Obvious answer would be Haji Wright or Latte Lath.

If it was based on who would be realistic then I think Mark Harris would be a good option with the thinking that he'd get more shots in a better team.

Mateo Joseph should be getting more gametime at Leeds as well.

Not so much a data point in line with this thread, however I was having a look this morning… Our form up to now has us on course for a projected 88 points. You’d have to go back to the 2021/22 season where that would be enough to get automatics (on goal difference). Shows how tough the task is to challenge for those positions.

Yeh I know some Leeds fans who are really annoyed that Joseph hasn't played more. Especially over Christmas Daniel Farke hardly rotated at all. Gnonto and Joseph played barely a minute between them over Christmas
