Should be a prem league Bail out fund imagine each season if each club put in 500,000 that would make a 10 mill fund that could be used to sustain struggling teams in the lower tiers till some buy outs could be arranged
Absolutely tragic. **** that idiotic **** who was the chairman/owner or whatever - he took that club down - horrible ****er.
Darlo did that last time, hardly anyone turned up and the chairman actually had a go at their fans for it, something like 3,000 went in what was billed as possibly their last game ever. Can't see them doing it again.
It's all the fault of overambition and that bloody stadium! If they go bust I think what will happen is someone will buy up the old location and rebuild the ground (even if it's just to Conference standard) and 'Darlo FC' (or something) will kick on in the Glue leagues. Not ideal but the club has been suffering for so long it needs a fresh start.
The question is, what on earth is going to happen to that 25k capacity lead balloon?
The problem is even if they did raise the money a year or 2 down the line they'd be back in the same place. The stadium is the noose around the club's neck.
It would probably be better if they just went pop and started fresh, maybe even try and get Feethams renovated. It would cost a fortune to renovate but they could probably get it to Northern League standard with a lot of volunteers. Starting again was the best thing ever to happen to Chester, they've gone from attendances of around 500 at the end to 3000 which is more than they ever got even when they were in the Football league.

Similar to Wimbledon, that was all down to their fans & they're back in the league now.
When they were at Wembley last year about 12,000 fairweather fans went. At the Newcastle friendly about 250 turned up. Tells you all you need to know. Not sure why that crazy George Reynolds even bothered to give them that beautiful stadium.
I have a mate who was a Wimbledon fan and he took me along to one of the very first AFC Wimbledon matches. You could tell straight away that the new Wimbledon were going to do very well because they had so much backing; not just from the supporters but also the local community and ex-players who were doing all they could to help out.
They really have been a success story and have done it with very little funding but every player who pulls on that shirt knows what it means to the local area and they have given it their all.
Darlo have to start again from scratch.
Read a recent article about Reynolds and the stadium. he originally wanted a hotel/bars etc on site ( it's next to A66 main dual carriageway roundabout) but was refused by council. Darlo never really got support from fans or success on pitch so whole thing had a slow death. Club went bust. Funny that 12,000 turned up at Wembley.
Seems I am the only one who couldnt give 2 ****s? Would love to see this happen to Boro however!
They had 16,000 at the new stadium for the first game against Kidderminster, think against Lincoln for the next game they had about 5,000. A lot of people turned up then realised the football was rubbish and that the team was going nowhere.
Shame for them but I'm not exactly surprised. Its been fighting against the tide for a long time now. Unfortunately they have been mismanaged in the past and have never recovered. As for players getting involved, not unless they have some link to the club. I don't think anyone can moan about that really though because its not their responsibility, and where does it end? Unfortunately those whose responsibility it was, royally ****ed it up.
Just seen it on the breaking news part of BBC .. Really is devistating that, the thought of not being able to go there to see the fierce Pools and Darlo rivalry.. One of my favourite ever games was at the Darlington arena.. seeing Efion Williams score a brilliant double and scorcher of a second as well.
Yes. If 10,000 went week in week out , that pays a lot of wages...........come on , Newcastle come down for a friendly and we could COUNT their supporters!!!!
If any supporters had had to put up with what they have at Darlo, they would get similar gates. To claim to be better supporters after invading their pitch (how much money did that cost them?) is beyond a joke. And do no other clubs gain higher interest if they get to Wembley? The hypocrisy here stinks.
Plenty Toon fans went to this pre season friendly.

Nope, theres a whole two of us... I've never felt any connection to Darlington.
I wouldnt wish it on a club however.
I just hate the fact that they've done this to themselves. I have no idea how they got away with the idiotic deicision to build a football stadium with a capacity of 25k in the first place. Not with their following. They dont even have permission to use of 10k of it either?
