I think Simpson is on he way out if we can get a french replacement, which we are trying to do. Basically Simpson wants too much money and too long a contract. Would he do well at QPR? Yes. he's a solid right back, premier league quality, but probably mid-to-lower half table material. With Barton in front of him they might click again. Then again Barton is pretty much out till christmas isn't he?

I doubt we'll get more than 3 mio for Simpson, he's an honest player, I don't really want him to leave but he won't be a huge miss. Let's face it, Raylor pretty much offers the same.

I think the truth is somewhere between the two extremes, he's not useless but his criticism certainly isn't undeserved, and in a full strength team of Krul, Simpson, Taylor, Colo, Santon, Tiote, Jonas, Cabaye, Ba, Cisse and Ben Arfa he clearly is the weak link.

I'd still have him as a squad player, but of QPR offer a decent fee I'd take it. See my blog entry for more...

Simpsons biggest problem is his 'Backing Off', say what you like he saved us a couple of times last season with goal line clearances, and some quality tackles, I can't see him staying, but if he does leave I wish him well.

Simpson saved us some points but if he wants more money than we think he's worth, time to move on.

I don't think the lad deserves half the stick he gets. He's put in some great performances for us and helped us get quite a few points that we might not otherwise have got. Yes he's made some mistakes but then they all have at times, even Mr Tiote (please don't tell him I said that). The truth is that he may now be someone we would like to improve on, but we shouldn't forget that he has helped make this team too good for him to get into!

Indeed this is the key point for me. Simpson gets a much rougher ride in terms of balanced criticism than someone like a Tiote or Cabaye. Both had much poorer spells in the season but because it is more fashionable to champion those types then they get a free ride. Don't get me wrong I love Tiote and Cabaye, both had good seasons overall and Cabaye is new to the league. But there is no getting away from Cabaye's mid season slump where he was virtually anonymous for about 5 or 6 games off the belt. Tiote got nowhere near the heights of the previous season overall.

Simpson for me had maybe 5 or 6 poor games in the 40 he played. Some of the poor ones came when we were depleted. Yet he got absolutely toasted off the haters and no appreciation for his good work. I don't think he's a world beater, we have a better right back in Santon, but I do appreciate the job Simpson has done.

Tiote did have a poor season by his standards, and Cabaye did have a run of poor form, but that happens in football. What Danny Simpson has failed to do since he joined this club is get rid of the decision making errors he's plainly had since Fergie let him go, namely positioning and knowing when to shut down a run or a cross before its too late to. Thats the difference for me, and not even trying to correct your obvious deficiencies is far worse to me than having the odd bad game. I'm not a 'hater', just disappointed. See my blog entry :emoticon-0105-wink:

Don't think you're a hater at all Colly. But there are some who refuse to give the lad any credit. That's just plain wrong.

I'm telling, I'm telling. Of course for a little consideration I may not.

Simpson and Perch both came in for heavy criticism to start with, but credit to both of them, they got on with the job and both came good and put in some sterling performances.

If you're looking for an attacking rb to rampage down that right side - well he's not your man. Defensively he's pretty sound but we and I expect you with all the money you have now could do better
