I think the alleged "dodgy start" of Bale is as much a media fabrication as much else they do because it's simpler that way. You know, like how Bale never won in his first N game for Spurs, implying all sorts of things, and recently we've had this stuff about how he was not valued at the time. Well I valued him and I'm sure posted comments as such, and a lot of others did too. This is all revisionist thinking now that the media is trying to set up some kind of contrast in the buying and selling price, and/or trying to point out how stupid Spurs were because they wanted to sell him for virtually nothing (or use him as some makeweight in other deals that never happened and for all I know are not true anyway). The same media that has given Anderton this sicknote description even though he made nigh on 500 career appearances over more than 15 years as a pro - significantly more than many other 'fully fit' players have made!
