As cover maybe, no more. He's not going to start many games barring injuries or suspensions to others and we have better options now

He is still young, and I would love to keep him at the club. Send him out on loan for the rest of the season and see how he does with that and a full pre-season under his belt, he was superb last season and I would be sad to see him go (West Brom game aside where we were gash as a team, that was just a day to forget!)

I doubt he's going get games in centre mid with Nolan and Ireland ahead of him, his best bet will be to try and improve his wing play (it can't get any worse) so he can play on the right in a similar way to Barton, or the defensive side of his game so that he could cover for Tiote. I'm not at all suggesting he will be anywhere near half the player of The One, but maybe he could be half decent cover (better than Smith) and maybe play as a deep playmaker and offer the team something different, I mean he is young enough to adapt, but if he's going to reach his potential it'll have to be soon.

Does he have a future at NUFC in your opinion?

I see a lot of comments on here, twitter, 606 and just general comments slating him or just generally putting the boy down. People say he is not good enough for the Premier League, he is a championship player etc.

I think he has a future with us in the Premier League. Its going to be hard for him to get into the team, but if he is given a run of games, I think he will blossom into a quality centre midfielder. He creates a lot of chances in games he plays in with his set pieces, he can pick a pass and if you look through a lot of the goals we have scored when he has been on the pitch, he has had a heavy hand in them.

I just think if we let him go, we would regret it and it would be like the "the one that got away".

Don't get me wrong, I do not expect him to walk into the team. He has to work and improve his fitness after being out of the team for so long. The only way I can see him getting a game this season is if we played this:

------------------------Harper

----Simpson-----Coloccini-----Williamson-----Enrique

-------------Barton------Tiote------Guthrie

-------------------Nolan------Ben Arfa

--------------------------Best

Mind you, I quite like the look of that team actually. I understand many people will think Ireland or Gosling to play in Guthries place in that team, but until I have seen them in a toon shirt, I will not expect anything of them.

Wouldn't put Guthrie in the team ahead of Jonas, don't think there's enough width in this formation, bit one dimensional, may have worked with the gypsy in the team but don't think Best holds the ball up well enough.

Guthrie is just a squad player for us.

When we first signed him I thought he could do a good job for us but he hasnt improved at all.

Injuries have played a big part in his demise but when he has been given the chance he hasnt taken it.

One thing we know is that he isn't a right winger. I think he's fully aware of that as well :)

Keep him for cover in CM but if he wants first team football he'll have to leave.
