how many of our other 'decent' strikers can claim a good collection of goals in recent years?...take defoe out of the picture and i cannot think of any since SKP/SNQ (yes, we were spoilt in those years and anyone coming to the club had some MASSIVE boots to fill) but i stick by what myself and many others have said and that is that these players did not become bad players overnight...they were all starved of service and the hull game plus the friendlies showed the team are going to create more, DG never hid, was an honest and hard working player...and because of that i am happy to welcome him to the club again and hope he gets the chance to prove us wrong.

Bent scored 24 in his full season across all comps. Incidentally he’s 36, a year older than DG. At this point, I’ve got to say I’d rather have DG. I know Bent is retired anyway, but he definitely wouldn’t have the desire to keep playing at a this level.
