I reckon Sturridge in league 1 would make Graham and Grigg look like a couple of motivated, hard work, professionals.
Absolutely agree with this! He never struck me as someone who will work his arse off for success. Quality wise he's way above League 1 - but attitude and workrate wise he's not even there. Probably the reason his career is going the way it seems
Having said that - I never really "liked" Defoe prior to him joining us! (Nothing to do with his football, just his character that I had of him in my head)! Very happy to be proved wrong on that score!

No doubting the lad's quality but he hasn't exactly bust a gut recently has he? Better managers than Johnson currently is have tried and failed to get him going.

The fact that he was offered to the Mags as a free agent and they didn't pick him up says it all. Its either his wage demand, attitude or fitness that stopped it. This is the club that signed Andy Carroll FFS.

I wouldn't go that far. He puts a Mags shirt on and wanders around the pitch a bit. But they pay him for it

Would be a absolute waste of wages and with massive chip on his shoulder! He would never drop to L1 because he thinks he's better than that! Great talent but he would be worse than rodwell!
