When will Charnley learn. I just think there was ever any intent on signing any players this window. Rafa must be fuming. But to be honest I think he’s on borrowed time. We are well and truly ****er under Ashley and his bell boy Charnley. The funny thing is Rafa will look at it and not play Mitro out of stubbornness when he could quite possibly be the player we need up top. It’s a comical mess it really is. Interestingly there has been no communications out of the club. There’s a surprise!
Apparently baggies have been working on this transfer since 1st January. Charnley has been on the case since lunchtime yesterday.
Same deal offered supposedly but Pardew swung it alongside his desire to be closer to his family. If only we'd stuck with Pardew eh.
George CaulkinVerified account@CaulkinTheTimes 1h1 hour ago Replying to @cooky_10 Rafa was only given “green light” by Ashley to sign players in the middle of month - so they were playing catch up. WBA had done the running on Sturridge & are closer to his family, but I reckon he used Nufc’s interest to bump up bonuses for staying up etc.
I don't buy all this. I think he just preferred a move closer to his family and that slippery eel Pardew worked his magic. He has always been great at getting players to sign. Look at Cabaye. As soon as he left PSG he jumped at being reunited with the silver fox. HBA, Ba, Santon, Cisse, Sissoko, De Jong, Cabella, Janmaat. He may have been an average manager, but he has always had the gift of the gab when it comes to persuading people to sign.
Said it before and will say it again. Sturridge changed his mind at the last minute or had agreed with WBA and simply used Newcastle’s late interest as leverage for more money. Nothing to do with the fit or feel, nothing to do with geography, it’s ££££££££££ Simple
No Pouchy, I don't think many on here would describe Pardew's managerial skills and ability as average.
Do you know West Brom have a board of directors with SIX people on it, including a dedicated Director of Football Administration? They have a smaller ground, far smaller revenue and less TV money than we do. We have Lee Charnley.
Sturridge saying among other things style of play was a factor in his decision, Rafa truely Pardewed... "The manager spoke very well when we talked about the challenge with the team, there was the style of play and this feels like it was the right fit at the right time." https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sp...liverpool-daniel-sturridge-west-brom-14221701
