When he comes on, what sound do the fans make? When he comes close to the fans, what are individuals shouting at him? What one thing has happened at our club to make him feel supported by the supporters? And let’s be absolutely clear: I don’t know if he is a decent player. I agree we need someone good now. But writing someone off as a footballer for all time after a couple of games in a new country is childish.
There was a lot of booing at FT on Saturday. But not once did I hear a boo during the game. I never boo, but if others want to at FT, then I have no issue with that.
So abuse and hurting someone's feelings is only a bad thing if you want something from the individual in future? That's vile inhumanity
Fans are getting frustrated by his performances and fair enough but they are not singling him out for booing. Sure they're talking among themselves about his poor performances but they do that with anyone having a poor game. At games, I have not witnessed fans specifically booing him or yelling abuse at him.
So answer my questions. When he comes on, how loud is his cheer? What encouragement is he getting? How are fans showing him that we aren’t all like the ****ers who forced him off social media?
Never understood the issue with booing once things get bad enough. We pay, they get paid. We suffered through abject **** the last god knows however many years. Even the season with Martin in the Champ we were **** in my opinion. I am always more than happy to cheer when things are good but I will happily also complain when things are bad and it’s October and we have no striker and it’s not like we’ve never experienced such issues under SR before.
My Christ he’s a footballer. He gets as much support as he gets based on how he plays in the game. Like every player. He gets **** online, unfortunately that very much comes with the territory of being a footballer today, we’d all like to live in make believe land but we don’t and he has to face reality. He is a big boy, he can delete it if it upsets him.
If you're just going to squabble with each other rather than debate properly I'll quite happily issue thread bans.
Sure. He is an established, mature player in his own country with no expectation he should be treated with respect. Nice.
From this abomination of a thread? The player who cost us the game on Saturday doesn’t have a thread or a mention! Where is the Manning thread?
Hey! I was just slagging a player off like everyone else. I wasn't the one who made it personal. Fair enough though. Sorry @......loading......
I appreciate that but I've had enough of the tit for tat and if I don't get involved if will keep on going.
If you want to misconstrue what I said then go for it but saying he gets what he gets based on performance is not “no expectation he should be treated with respect”. He is a victim of timing and the club putting him in the situation but he also needs to do the job or expect criticism. Seriously what world are you living in where you can expect him to play 30 minutes a game, do absolutely nothing and then expect the fans after multiple games to keep going “go on lad, you’re almost there! You only had 1 shot and lost the ball 6 times today! You’re so close”. Get real.
I don’t like people writing off a young man and so happily saying he should be able to take the abuse. Those things are not acceptable in a decent society. Nobody deserves to be abused for doing their job.
Not sure you can leap to the defence of someone (that gets paid millions to be under public scrutiny) because they have been sent abusive messages online and then in your next post directly send someone an abusive message online Don't get me wrong - I don't think either are that bad or worth getting offended by. However, if you have such a big issue with it, which you clearly do, then why are you doing it too?
