Stone - good old Shola <ok>. Cisse is very good so I hope he does start tbh. Pardew took a risk on Saturday trying to get match time in to Tiote and Cabaye. Really poor performances by both but hopefully they will be spot on for Sunday. I would actually take a point tbh sounds stupid as Newcastle are the home team.

Your strength is midfield and if they click i fear the worst, but hey would take defeat on Sunday over Everton in the FA Cup, now suppose its back to racing need to check the cards for a Long Shot.

but Ferdinand NO NO NO NO NO way way way past his best, never eally rated him anyway.

Sorry Stone... Rio has been one of the best defenders we have seen for a while... I hate to admit it being a Liverpool fan but he is class... I agree that he has passed his best now but his partnership with Vidic is the best in the league...

I just dont think we have any class defenders anymore, but Rio has been class...

Rio was class and I am a United fan, I too do not believe we need him in the England set-up. Let's start with the kids and let them gain valuable experience :-)

Delighted to see Parker made captain - hope he keeps the job through the Euros and WC qualifiers. Be nice to have someone who is not a racist and/or thug and/or adulterer leading the team out.

I see Cerium is having his Gold Cup prep race today at Folkestone. Should put him spot on for the big one.

Nicky Henderson is everywhere at the moment - on the BBC website and in the Independent today. I'll be gutted when he beats Fulkes festival record wins but it would be interesting to see how many runners each had to get to 40 winners. Probably close but I suspect NH has had more runners despite doing it in less time. Anyways, so long as he stays in good health Nicholls will get past whatever total Henderson sets.

Afternoon All,

not much that I fancy today that has not already been put up, before the football chat about a pain in the backside and meaningless friendly started! <laugh>

We,ve not had a great CB since the Tony Adams, Terry is the closest we have come Ferdinand has pace but too much finess for a CB, not World Class at all, but hey freedom of speech and all that, either way English football is looking too good at the moment, but like Nass says blood the youth and concentrate on the World Cup, Germany did that and werent far away and are my favourites for the Euros over an ageing Spain.

Stone - Spain have the best youngsters going and will keep bringing new players in to the first squad plus the first team isn't really that old

Ramos 25

Pique 25

Iniesta 27

Fabregas 24

Mata 23

Busquets 23

Silva 26

Navas 26

Llorente 27

Torres 27

are some good examples of class players under 30

Todays long shot runs in the 2.10 Folkestone MAROON MACHINE 12/1, former flat horse that raced at Group 1 level, in the Dewhisrt and has some decent form to go on over 8f, todays 17f shouldnt be a problem, however, more cut in the ground would be to his liking. There is also the untired and tested over hurdles, however, there have been a number of new trainers this year who have produced good ones first time out, not heard of Hugo Palmer before and not much to go on his ability to train a FTO horse any thoughts?

Stone that is a very good spot. Some very respectable efforts in good company. Especially at my fav track Meydan

Stone what about Iniesta <yikes> and Busquets

Euro 2008 , World Cup 2010

European u19 runners up 2010 and winners 2011

European u21 champions 2011 and 5-5 in qualifiying for 2013- they are going to be the team to beat for many years.

I did like Germany in the world cup as well but the team isn't as young as people make out.

Typical English reply, Terry throws him self into last ditch tackles and wins headers and is close to greatness yet Ferdinand who doesn't make last ditch takles cos he reads the game so well isn't! Ferdinand is the best English centre back in the last 20 years, not as good as he once was but still has such a great reading of the game! Terry looks good alongside someone with class and pace like Ferdinand and Carvalho but stick him alonside a Luis and he gets well exposed like he has all season
