No team needs Gerrard in it! I also agree lose Ferdinand and Terry :)

The team does need Rooney however but Sturridge alongside him would be good :)

Some around here will recall me creating a Telegraph Cheltenham Festival competition last year, I have done the same this year.

Its free to enter and with the talent around here I am sure we can put the forums names up in lights for all to see, anyone interested please follow the hyperlink below:

I think Baines is far better defender, good on the ball, in the tackle, in the air, great engine, better going forward all round what you are looking for in a defender.

Stone <ok>. I still think Ashley Cole is one of the best Left Backs in the world. I don't think Baines is better going forward but obviously just my opinion. He is a deadly free kick taker mind.

That is a fair point but you include John Terry in the side ?. I would replace him with Jones.

I love how this has turned in to a football thread <rofl>

It is funny because I used to rate Baines but recently I think he hasn't really sparkled in my eyes. He doesn't have the speed of Cole and he isn't as good defensively as I thought he was. He is good with the dead ball but many others are, and I think Cole is more dynamic and if he is in the right frame of mind I think Cole is one of the best LB around.

If only Gibbs could keep himself fit, he could be a top left back too. Shame he is always injured.

Ryan Taylor over the wall maybe ? ;) LOL

Stone are you looking forward to Sunday ? I am very nervous as always. Could be an epic match and I certainly don't fancy a repeat of last season

Barry?!?! He msut be the slowest player in international football, he is min my opionion the most over-rated footballer in the Premier League! Look how the German's ripped him to pieces at the World Cup.

    Hart
    Richards Jones Cahill Cole
    Parker
    Walcott Gerrard Wilshire Young
    Rooney

I have to Terry is the one player that wears his heart on his sleeve and has years and years of experience at this level, this is his swan song, but Ferdinand NO NO NO NO NO way way way past his best, never eally rated him anyway.

Will be interesting to see how the kids perform, at his best young Frazer Campbell is electric jand pace to die for, just not sure after his injuries hes up to it at this level yet.

Campbell is a very good player but is behind Sturridge and Welbeck at the moment imo <ok>. Unfortunate he has had several setbacks. Hope he isn't playing on Sunday

The only worry I have is that Shola will play, hope Ba and Cisse are fit, Shola is guranteed to score if he starts. Im sure after Saturdays performance MON will have the team up for it as will Pardew as always im not edging my bets and would take a point, but god willing we will snatch it, fortune favours the brave and if we sit back I feel we will get beat.

Stone - good old Shola <ok>. Cisse is very good so I hope he does start tbh. Pardew took a risk on Saturday trying to get match time in to Tiote and Cabaye. Really poor performances by both but hopefully they will be spot on for Sunday. I would actually take a point tbh sounds stupid as Newcastle are the home team.
