KGL deserves her chance against Quevega in my opinion as do one or two others. I think its more competitive than some think. She has demolished others in the past you dont know how good this batch are. I think it will be a real test and KGL will not be far away.

Quevega would not beat Big Bucks but sadly we will never find out.

Interesting booking of the Geraghty boy for NEW YEARS EVE in the bumper!

    Eye catching booking for sure.

The vibes from the Irish contributors on the preview nights seem to be negative about the Irish bumper runners.

The Mares Hurdle is wide open minus the favourite and I suppose there is definite place and e/w vlaue to be had.

Not a race I'll be betting in but will be fascinating to watch.I'm not convinced WM's horses are in great form.

I wonder whether Jack Quinlan had the choice of the 2 Ferguson horses and chose Population? Or has he been "jocked off" New Year's Eve (who is vying for favouritism at 8/1 whereas Population is twice the price)?

Dexter, you're a man knows your Spanish footy so I want to pick your thoughts on Man U against your own team Alt Bilbao... I loathe to back United but at around Evens do you reckon Man U HT/FT is a decent bet or can your lot hold them out??

I expect Utd to win Beefy.

Athletic are awful at the back and Iturraspe is not a good holding midfielder player. They have some good forward players such as Muniain.

I would be surprised if Bilbao didn't score but predict 3-1...ht/ft evens...not sure tbh.

    8.10 Marksbury EW

This race has more maidens in it than the average maiden race does (well nearly), I think the CD form of Marksbury is fair and I think it knows how to win. I will forgive it one bad run and have backed it EW this evening. Should it win, I will be following Yorkies on a horse I thought was potentially interesting

Jocked off sadly for him. Also misses the ride on ASAID in the Triumph (again to Geraghty) and COTTON MILL in the Neptune (Denis O'Regan). Lack of festival experience says the trainer but he gets to ride the handicappers!

The second and third goals should not have happened. Offside and a mystery free kick coupled with dire defending. However, they were full value for the win. Very impressive from the Spaniards and you can consider United out of this now.

    Absolutely delighted Ron.

Utd were completely outplayed and outsupported...the only players on the pitch were the eleven basques and the one Spaniard.

All that from selecting their players from a 3m population pool.Fabulous stuff.

Really does make one ask how good is the premier league?

It's poor this year Dex. There's a reason the two best teams are playing on a Thursday night.

Collymore is dreadful. Has a massive opinion of himself and you'll know what I mean if you follow him on twitter.

We need Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool to improve to force us to get back to the level we were at 2/3 years ago.

Agree Quel..premier league poor...Athletic by no means within a mile of Barcelona and Real in La Liga but are improving with eight players under 23.

Stan is a bit of a tool alright.

De Gea was outstanding...that could have been 6 or 7...never saw Utd outplayed at O.T. like that..highly unusual.

Crikey I take it there not that good every week otherwise you'd a been brimming with confidence... <yikes> Ended up doing Utd HT/FT but knew within 10 minutes that the third best team in Spain are on another level to the second best in England. Their third in Spain right bit behind the Big Two? Knew my bet was fecked at HT so logged online to see what price Athletic were to win expecting them to be favourites but they were 4-1 <yikes> Backed them to cover my original loss and made more so happy days! Couldn't believe how odds compilers had watched that half of footy and had Utd 11/10 and Athletic at 4-1...

Can't say I know masses about them bar Llorente but really impressed by that, they actually should be home and hosed by now but de Gea played a blinder. They have some support too, all you heard was the away fans bur I don't think that's untypical at OT!

Goodness Spanish footy is so far ahead of the Premiership it's embarrassing. What about Barca last night too <laugh> Has their ever been a better player than Messi, I know it's easy to hype him after that match and people do go OTT but he's surely up their with Pele, Maradona, Best, Cruft etc

Funny how the Premier League is the richest league in the world yet we have the Glazers milking United dry stopping us being able to spend on players what we earn throughout the year. Chelsea and City would both go bust within a year without their owners. Arsenal with lots of cash in the bank but debatably that's only there because of player sales last summer. Liverpool, who financed the majority of their player purchases with the sale of Torres and Mascherano. That only leaves Spurs as financially viable.

So the question is, where the hell does all that money go and what state of affairs are the rest of the world in????
