Oddy,I wouldn't be surprised if he was Barcelona bound to replace Villa whose form was waning slightly before his injury and who is 30+. It would have to come with a player swap deal since the Catalans are rumoured to have only 22m to spend and are also very interested in the excellent Javi Martinez. There wouldn't be a team in the premier division that would interest RVP.He has the added advantage in that he is intelligent and would easily adapt to another country's customs and language....a bit like Rooney.
I've got my eyes on Javi Martinez Dex. Sir Alex has already received the memo. Now he just has to do the deal tonight after the match. He's all class. I'd be shocked if Barca went for Podolski. Doesn't seem to suit their style of play IMHO.
The good news this morning is that Bromley was talking out the wrong orifice last night. He said Ted Spred goes straight to the County and Hinterland runs in the Imperial Cup for Nicholls/Walsh. Now the declarations are out, Ted Spread runs at Sandown and Hinterland goes straight to Cheltenham. Still, good news as far as I'm concerned because the Supreme idea is back in the game! Just need Nicholls to see the light now . . . . I'm at Sandown on Saturday so will tell him at the preview!
Re the Carlisle bumper. I pointed out on yesterdays thread what an excellent record W Amos has in Carlisle bumpers. I see there is good money for his runner SCARLET RUBY so it may well be worth taking the hint.
Quel...hands off JM!! He has been playing CH all year but is a better midfielder. Iker Muniain is the real future star of AB and Suseata also has class. He scored twice on Sunday in the 2-0 Basque Derby win which I attended in San Mames. Athletic will cause Utd problems going forward but are absolutely shocking at the back and lack a decent holding midfielder.Iturraspe is poor. I meant RVP for Barcelona, not Podolski!
Good afty all... I hope we are all well... Nowt grabs my attention today but then again its just another countdown day until tuesday... Just had a little e/w call on the golf though... Dustin Johnson @ 22/1 - Finished 2nd last year, lead after 54 holes also... Mat Kuchar @ 35/1 - 2 top 10 finished in the last 2 years. one of the courses that really suits his game... Good luck to all who play the horses today, but its another waiting day im afraid...
I tell you what lads, this is falling into place nicely. Hinterland has not been left in the Fred Winter. He was left in the Supreme so he must be OK fitness wise, so perhaps Nicholls has seen the light already?! My earful isn't required?!
Red - cold sweat memories for me. A few years ago I was having one of my best ever Cheltenhams, fixed and spreads I was cleaning up, there was a golf tournament and at the time there was a three way battle for the worlds no'1 spot, Tiger, Vijay and Ernie. Sporting Index did a special bet on this tournament and I had a very drunk and stupid bet (getting against Vijay) that, on the 18th tee in the second round, was costing me approximately double what I'd won at Cheltenham. Ernie was one shot off making the cut but thankfully birdied the last and just made the cut, he ended up finishing OK and I won both bets (Ernie and Tiger against Vijay) but for an horrific couple of hours I was gone. Lesson learnt....
Grizz - Im not a big golf better as i find them an absolute minefield... Last year i stuck with Steve Stricker and did very well out of him even know he didnt win the real big ones... I tend to just stick to one player if im honest... Im going to go with Kuchar and Johnson for a little while, see which one is getting the better results and stick with him then for the rest of the year...
Neither am I mate, but I was flush and drunk !!! Never again. Apologies for hijacking the Daily thread with a completely off topic story...
Red,you going for the big hitters on "The Blue Monster"...not sure there are any short hitters anymore mind you. I like Westwood At 14's,Bradley at 40's and Fowler at 45/1...might have a few bob e/w on them for an interest.
