Off topic maybe, but anyone remember stuff they ate that nowadays would be frowned upon? Lard on bread? or dripping sandwiches? Crisp sandwiches? fry ups and after emptying the frying pan of bacon eggs and sausages into the remaining fat would be poured a tin of chopped tomatoes ? stirred into the hot fat and served as one? or fried bread? eggy bread? porridge laced with salt. - we had a Scottish housparent in our orphanage! My Scottish pal reckoned over the border, chippies served deep fried mars bars and battered pizzas!!!. I'm high cholesterol borderline medication and same type 2 diabetis. No I'm not David Burns.
I still have dripping on toast after a 'proper' roast, AND eggy bread for Sunday breakfast (occasionally).... I'd fight my brothers for the beef jelly, happy days!
I've seen a pizza, frozen one, dropped into a fryer when on detachment up in Scotland near Dundee. It wasn't battered. It was the worst thing I've ever seen food wise.
Have you ever thought of taking that on Masterchef Ben? It's better than a Chicken Parmo. I'll give it a go.
Animal fats have been well back in fashion for a few years now. Better for you than vegetable oils. FACT.
Also, I think it goes without saying anyone voting yes has got themselves an instant ban from the good Friday thread.
