I've only heard the heavily edited version previously, although the broadcasters did advice they had to cut loads of stuff out. I'm not sure what he thought he achieved though, they just put bullets in him, end of story. Who was the bomber recently in the UK, that blew himself up outside a hospital, again only the assailant lost his life, the talk of a mad man, litterally meaning fooked up and crazy in the head.

Non of it made any sense mate. He went from the UK and travelled to some unknown synagogue in Texas, who's been feeding his brain to make him want to do that. I understood he wanted some woman freed from prison, but he could have demanded that in millions of other places - I don't even see him as a terrorist, I just see him as a male individual a bit fooked up in the brain, that's gone on some loopy tour of the US.

I think your last sentence just sums it up mate, he's just a bit ****ed up in the brain.

It's one thing having ideation about these sorts of things, but to act on it, is just the action of somebody who is mentally unstable

I think that goes for all terrorist acts tbh.

Yeah, although I've not seen him as a terrorist throughout this, hence why I wasn't concerned about him getting under the radar. Sometimes people are just disappointed and angry with things they see in life, it's a bit like me hating Blair, but I wouldn't act on those thoughts, even if I'm surprised others haven't. He was just someone that did act on the thoughts he built up in his head. Sad really.

I think Social media has a big role in how these people end up going from somebody who has a leaning to somebody ends up with the FBI filling them full of bullets.

We saw it with the Qanon stuff. Shady chat rooms and right wing online internet radio stations that literally brainwashed more than a few people into believing that Hilary Clinton was running a sex dungeon in the basement of a pizza restaurant, and all of her democrat friends were eating babies and drinking their blood.

People bought into that **** so much, that aided and abetted by a president desperate to cling to power, it saw the seat of US democracy being stormed by a bunch of nutters.

I always say, people will find what they want to find with social media. Twitter functionality is built in such away that it feeds you what YOU want. If you want right wing stuff, it will feed you it. If you want hate Tory stuff it will feed you it. It's all down to the people you choose to follow, which then becomes their followers. You just have to know to engage in a wide spectrum when using it, and question everything. I think the worst thing with media content in twitter is timelining stuff, so people can feed you pics from years ago. If I had to make one specific change to media and official content, I would like to see pictures timestamped - so that if someone shows you pictures of empty supermarket shelves in the Metro, I would know if it was from today or three months ago, because as it currently stands, people can pick up that content and retweet it as though it happened today, and people don't question what they see, they just react to it.

Yep the algorithms take people down rabbit holes where they meet fellow brainwashed people in that echo chamber and it just feeds itself.

One of the dangers of selectively picking your own information channels is that it just feeds you what you want to hear, and you become more and more narrow in your thinking and less and less aware of opposing views.

It's why I'll always champion the BBC, for all of its critics, it actually tries to make impartiality its core principal. And it's why I listen to Radio 4, because without fail, every day there is a programme or article about something that I previously had no idea about.

Every day is a school day <ok>
